Huawei P9 Gets Stuck On Boot Logo

Problem: My phone gets stuck on boot, whenever you switch it on, the huawei logo shows and a sound flows after but after that it just keeps showing the logo and won’t boot again, I’ve tried to format it but each time I press the power button and up volume key it will display three options, recovery mode, normal boot and fastboot, if I select the recovery mode option it will show the android recovery mode symbol I.e an android with the belly opened and a caution sign above, but it will not show the recovery option of clear cache or wipe data / factory reset, the next thing it does is to reboot and then show the huawei logo and then it will still get stuck on boot

Related Problem: The device powers on but won’t reboot. Once the logo appears, it’s stuck there. Followed all 3 ways that you’ve mentioned to put it in safe mode, wipe cache partition, or wipe data/ factory reset but these don’t appear when pressing the volume low button (tried multiple times with clicking once, twice, or a minute of pressing the volume low key but these options do not appear).

Solution:  The first thing you need to do is to check if this problem is caused by an app you installed in the phone by starting the device in Safe Mode.

  • turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Huawei P9 screen appears, release the Power key and immediately press and hold the Volume Down button.
  • Keep holding the Volume Down key until the phone boots up successfully. You’d know if it was successful if you can see the text “Safe Mode” at the lower-left corner of the screen.

If the phone starts in this mode then the problem is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even when you try to start the phone in Safe Mode then I suggest that you perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data.

  • Turn off the phone
  • Press and hold the Volume Up and the Power keys for 10 seconds.
  • Once the Huawei logo appears, release both keys.
  • Use the Volume Down button to highlight ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option and press the Power key to choose it.
  • Once the cache partition is wiped, highlight ‘reboot system now’ and press the Power key to accept it.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to have this checked at a service center as it could already be a hardware related issue.

Huawei P9 Turns Off On Its Own

Problem: P9 Runs perfectly in every possible way. after using for 2 months this problem started. Screen turns off frequently (not sure if it’s the device that’s turning off) and there is no way to bring it back except by holding the off button. Tried factory reset several times. Nothing changed. My only observation is that if I keep using the device and not leave it idle I have no problem. As soon as I leave the device for a moment it dies.

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then this is most likely caused by an internal component that is failing to work properly. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it  checked.

Huawei P9 Stopped Charging

Problem: I purchased my P9 in September last year from EE (contract) and all of a sudden it’s stopped charging. We’ve bought new cables and plugs but nothing is working. I have rebooted it (soft reset) on several occasions but still no joy. Please help I am desperate, thank you.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris. Try using a can of compressed air to clean this port. Once this is done perform the steps listed below.

  • Turn off the phone then check if it charges when it is off. If it does then the problem could be caused by a faulty power IC in which case you will have to bring this to a service center.
  • Check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. If it charges then the charging port of the phone might be damaged. Have this checked at a service center.
  • If this issue occurred after a software update then try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
