On a mobile device there are apps that allow you to do this. What makes this social network popular is that it allows people to stay connected and updated with their friends.
One popular feature that Facebook has is its ability to share photos to the public. While this is a great feature, there are other people who would rather want to keep their photos private. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will show you how yo make photos on Facebook private.

How To Make Photos On Facebook Private
From the desktop
- Go to https://www.facebook.com/ in your browser and log in to your account.
- Click your name in the top-right side of the Facebook page.
- Click the Photos tab which is below the cover photo that’s at the top of your Facebook page.
- Click a category tab (e.g., Your Photos) near the top of the page.
- Click a photo that you want to make private. This will open the photo. Make sure that your selected photo is one that you uploaded, not just one in which you’re tagged.
- Click the “Privacy” icon. This icon looks like a silhouette of two people.
- If a menu appears showing Click Edit Post Privacy then click on this and click the privacy icon at the top of the post before continuing.
- Click More.
- Click Only Me
You can repeat this step for other photos to make photos on Facebook private.
From mobile app
- Tap the Facebook app icon on your phone. If you are not logged in then enter your email address and password before continuing.
- Tap the three horizontal bars. It’s either in the bottom-right corner of the screen (iPhone) or at the top of the screen (Android). A menu will appear.
- Tap your name. This option is at the top of the menu. Doing so opens your profile page.
- Scroll down and tap Photos.
- Select a photo category. Tap a category (e.g., Uploads) near the top of the screen.
- Tap a photo that you want to make private. This will open the photo. Make sure that your selected photo is one that you uploaded, not just one in which you’re tagged.
- Tap the three dots. It’s in the top-right corner of the screen. A menu will appear.
- Tap Edit Privacy. This option is in the menu. This will open a new menu.
- Tap More.
- Tap Only me.
- Tap Done
You can repeat this step for other photos to make photos on Facebook private.
If you would like to make the entire photo album on Facebook private then you should follow the steps listed below.
From the desktop
- Go to https://www.facebook.com/ in your browser and log in to your account.
- Click your name in the top-right side of the Facebook page.
- Click the Photos tab which is below the cover photo that’s at the top of your Facebook page.
- Click the Album tab.
- Find an album that you want to make private.
- Click the three dots in the lower-right corner of the album cover. This will open up a small menu.
- Click Edit.
- Click the “Privacy” drop-down box.
- Click Only me
- Click Save
From mobile app
