How to hard reset an LG G5

Hard reset refers to factory reset or master reset. This basically means wiping the phone’s internal storage and reverting all software settings to their defaults. Method 1: Hard reset your LG G5 via Setting menu

This is the easier option to revert your LG G5 software to its defaults. Be sure to back up your data before proceeding.

1. Drag down the notification bar and tap the Settings icon at the top-right.
2. Tap General
3. Tap Backup & reset. (If using List view, scroll down to ‘PERSONAL,’ then tap Backup & reset.)
4. Select or clear the following check boxes:
   • Back up my data
   • Automatic restore
5. Tap Backup account and follow the steps to create Google backup account, if necessary.
6. Tap Factory data reset.
7. Review the warning message and select or clear Erase SD card.
8. Tap Reset phone.
9. Tap Next.
10. Tap Delete all.
11. Tap OK

Method 2: Hard reset your LG G5 using hardware buttons

The other way to hard reset your LG G5 is done by using the hardware keys. This is often an effective way to fix certain problems when a device becomes unresponsive.

1. Back up data on the internal memory.
2. Turn off the device.
3. Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
4. When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
5. ‘Factory data reset’ appears.
6. Use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
7. Press the Power button to confirm.
8. Erase all user data and restore default settings’ appears.
9. Use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
10. Press the Power button to reset the device.
