How to hard reset an LG G5

Method 1: Hard reset your LG G5 via Setting menu

  1. Drag down the notification bar and tap the Settings icon at the top-right.
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Backup & reset. (If using List view, scroll down to ‘PERSONAL,’ then tap Backup & reset.)
  4. Select or clear the following check boxes:
    • Back up my data
    • Automatic restore
  5. Tap Backup account and follow the steps to create Google backup account, if necessary.
  6. Tap Factory data reset.
  7. Review the warning message and select or clear Erase SD card.

Method 2: Hard reset your LG G5 using hardware buttons

The other way to hard reset your LG G5 is done by using the hardware keys. This is often an effective way to fix certain problems when a device becomes unresponsive.

  3. Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
