How To Fix The Oppo F7 Can’t Send MMS Issue

Before you perform the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem it’s best to make sure that it is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. Once the update has been downloaded then proceed with the following steps.

There are two factors that your phone carrier will require from your device before it will be able to successfully send and receive an MMS. First, it should have an active mobile data subscription and that it  should be getting a strong mobile data signal, preferably LTE. Second, your phone should be using the correct APN setting. This setting is unique for each carrier. Compare your carrier APN setting with the one on your phone and make the necessary changes if needed.

To access the APN settings of your phone:

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Mobile networks
  • Tap Access point names (APN)
  • From here you can reset the APN to default or add a new APN.

In case the Oppo F7 can’t send MMS issue persists even after performing the steps listed above then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

One of the first things you will need to do is to refresh the phone software by doing a soft reset. This will usually resolve issue caused by minor software glitches.

  • Press and hold the Power a key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app

Sometimes corrupt data stored by the messaging app will prevent it from sending an MMS. To eliminate this possibility you will need to clear the cache and data of this app.

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Additional Settings
  • Tap Application Management
  • Tap All
  • Tap the required app
  • Tap clear cache
  • Tap clear data
  • Go back to the home screen.

Try checking if the issue still occurs.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

It’s possible that you might have downloaded an app that is causing this particular issue. To check if this is the case you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn Off your phone.
  • Press and Hold Power Button.
  • Release Power button and hold Volume Down Key when you see the Oppo animation.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down Key until Safe Mode appears.

If you can send and MMS in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app is causing the problem then uninstall it.

Finding the particular app is going to be a trial and error method. Start by uninstalling the most recent app you downloaded before the problem occurred then check if you are able to send an MMS. Repeat this step until the issue will not occur anymore after uninstalling a particular app. This last app is most likely the cause of the problem.

Wipe the cache partition

There are instances when a corrupted system cached data can cause this problem. It’s therefore a good idea to delete this data as the phone will just rebuild this data when it starts again.

  • Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
  • Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
  • Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
  • Select language.
  • Select Wipe Cache Partition.
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step to consider if your Oppo F7 can’t send MMS is a factory reset. This will bring your phone back to its original factory condition. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process so make sure to create a backup copy before proceeding.

  • Select  Wipe data and Wipe data (Keep SMS, Contacts and Photos).
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

Once the phone has started make sure to setup the APN settings of the device first before sending an MMS.
