Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem you should make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then you should download and install it first. This minimizes the possibility of the problem being caused by an older software version. Once the latest software update has been installed proceed with the steps listed below.

Don’t forget to turn on the phone Wi-Fi switch

Android devices will usually have a Wi-Fi switch which can be turned on or off. It’s possible that this switch might be in the off position in your case which is why the device is unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network. What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that this is turned on. You should also make sure that the Airplane mode of the device is disabled.

  • Swipe left.
  • Select Settings.
  • Select Wi-Fi.
  • Turn Enable Wi-Fi on.
  • Select the wireless network you want to connect to.
  • Enter the Wi-Fi Password and select Connect.

Check if the Oppo A83 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue still occurs.

Possible router problem

There’s a chance that the problem is caused by an issue with the router or wireless network that your phone is connecting to. Can other devices connect to the router successfully? Is your phone within range of your router? Does the router have a setting activated (MAC Filtering) that is blocking your phone from connecting to it? One quick way to check if this is a router related issue is to connect your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a soft reset

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Update your phone Wi-Fi settings

You should try to clear your phone Wi-Fi settings as this might fix the problem.  To do this go to Settings then App Management then tap on All. You can also go to Settings then Additional settings then  Application management. From here tap on All. Tap on Wi-Fi Settings. From here tap on clear data and cache. Check if your phone can now successfully connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

Sometimes an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause the Oppo A83 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue on the phone when it is installed. This can be due to bugs in the app or compatibility issues with the app and your phone software. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn Off your phone.
  • Press and Hold Power Button.
  • Release Power button and hold Volume Down Key when you see the Oppo animation.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down Key until Safe Mode appears.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
  • Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
  • Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
  • Select language.
  • Select Wipe Cache Partition.
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the Oppo A83 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue then you should to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as it will be deleted in the process.

  • Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
  • Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
  • Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
  • Select language.
  • Select  Wipe data and Wipe data (Keep SMS, Contacts and Photos).
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

Setup the phone then check if the issue still persists. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
