How To Fix The LG Prime 2 Won’t Charge Issue The Easy Way
The LG Prime 2 is one of the budget Android smartphone models being offered by AT&T that has several great features. It comes with a 5.45 inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and uses a quad core Snapdragon processor combined with 2GB of RAM allowing for snappy performance. Although this is a solid performing device there are instances when certain issues can occur. How To Fix The LG Prime 2 Won’t Charge Issue
Before doing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps for this problem it’s always a good idea to make sure that the phone running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. This will reduce the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version.
Make sure the charger you are using is working
The first thing you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the charger you are using is not defective. There are two components to a phone charger and these are the USB charging cord and the power adapter. The cord usually gets damaged easily so its best to try using a different charging cord. You should also try using a different adapter to charge your phone in case using a different cord does not work.
Charge from a different power outlet
You might be plugging the charger to a power outlet that is not working. To eliminate this possibility you should try plugging the charger to a different power outlet. Take note that itâs best not to plug the adapter to an extension cord but instead plug it directly to the power outlet if you are experiencing this issue.
Check the phone charging port
Sometimes, dirt or debris stuck in the charging port can prevent the charger from charging the phone. Make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any debris by blowing air to it. In case the charging port of the phone is wet then you should dry this first by leaving the device in a cool area for a few hours. The liquid present in the port will evaporate naturally. Try charging the phone from a computer USB port
If you are unable to charge the phone using its wall charger then you should try to connect the phone to a computer USB port. Your phone will still charge this way but it is going to be a slower process. If your phone charges then itâs possible that the problem is caused by an issue with the fast charging pin of the phone charging port. You should try cleaning this pin or have this checked at a service center.
Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode
Sometimes an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store can cause issues on the phone when it is installed. This can be because of bugs in the app or compatibility issues between the app and your phone. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.
- With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
- In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
- When prompted to restart in Safe Mode, tap OK.
- After your device restarts, it displays Safe mode at the bottom of the screen.
In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Wipe the cache partition of the phone
Sometimes the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is whatâs causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- From the Home screen, tap Settings.
- Tap the ‘General’ tab.
- Tap Storage > Internal storage.
- Wait for menu options to finish calculating.
- Tap Free up space.
- Tap Temporary files & raw files.
- Select the following options: Cached data, Clip tray temporary files, Raw files from camera.
- Tap Delete > DELETE
Check if the LG Prime 2 wonât charge issue still occurs.
Perform a factory reset
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then one final troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
- When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
- When the ‘Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings’ message appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
- Press the Power button to reset the device.
