How To Fix the Huawei P20 Pro SuperCharge Is Not Working

Problem: Hi, I have a Huawei P20 Pro device. 5 days ago while I was trying to connect the Type C to 3.5mm jack so I can listen to music in my car, and the phone blacked out for a few seconds (say about 20 seconds). I had to connect the charger to see if it’s working. And it charged… After turning it on, I attempted to connect the cable again to play music. And it did not detect the cable at all. Music started playing directly from the phone. It didn’t detect headsets too… Okay cool, later on I charged it. And I noticed another thing. It didn’t “Super Charge” anymore. It just showed “Fast Charging” and it took over an hour for battery to get to 95%. Now the issues I’m having are: 1. Phone not SuperCharging anymore, but Fast Charging. 2. Phone doesn’t detect music cables 3. Phone overheats, and drains fast even when not in use. I tried Soft Resetting and deleted apps I recently downloaded but no improvement. Please assist me.

Solution: To effectively take advantage of the SuperCharge feature of this phone it is important that you use the original charging cable and wall charger that came with the device. You can fully charge the phone in just 90 minutes form a drained state when using the SuperCharge feature. If you are not able to do so then proceed with the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • If your phone got wet then make sure to charge the device only when the port is completely dry.
  • If you are using the original charging cord and wall charger but the issue occurs then you should try using a different original charging cord and wall charger.
  • To eliminate any software related issues that could be causing this problem I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
