How To Fix The Honor Play Screen Flickering Issue

It has a dual rear camera system and a single 16MP selfie camera at the front. Under the hood is a Hisilicon Kirin 970 octa core processor which is paired with 6GB of RAM. Although this is a solid performing device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Honor Play screen flickering issue.

How To Fix The Honor Play Screen Flickering Issue
It’s best to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version before performing the troubleshooting steps listed below. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. This will at least minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version.
One of the main reasons why the screen of your phone will flicker is because of a software issue which is why we will be troubleshooting the software of your device.
Perform a soft reset
You should try to refresh the phone software as this action will clear out any corrupt temporary data from your phone. This can be done easily by simply restarting the device.
- Press and hold the Power key for up to 45 seconds.
- Wait as the device restarts.
Check if the screen flickering issue still occurs.
Start the phone in Safe Mode
There are cases when an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.
- Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
- Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Honor logo on screen.
- After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
- Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
- Once the phone boots up, “Safe mode” should be appeared on the bottom of the screen
In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
You will need to perform a trial and error method to find out what app is causing the problem. Restart the phone normally then uninstall the last app you downloaded before the issue occurred. Check if the screen still flickers. Repeat this step until the screen stops flickering after uninstalling an app. That particular app is most likely what’s causing the problem.
Wipe the cache partition of the phone
There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your device simultaneously for a few seconds
- The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
- Use volume buttons to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and use power key to select it
- Reboot the system once the process is completed
Check if the Honor Play screen flickering issue still occurs.
Perform a factory reset
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then the best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to create a backup copy before proceeding.
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your device simultaneously for a few seconds
- The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
- Use volume buttons to highlight select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
- Reboot the system once the process is completed
Setup the phone, but do not install any apps yet, then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
