The #Honor10 is a premium mid-range Android smartphone first released last year. The phone is made of an Aluminum frame with a glass back and a 5.84 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels on the front. It has a dual rear camera system and a single 24MP selfie camera up front. Under the hood is a Hisilicon Kirin 970 which is paired with 8GB of RAM. Although this is a solid performing device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Honor 10 screen flickering issue.

How To Fix The Honor 10 Screen Flickering Issue
Before you do any of the recommended troubleshooting steps on this phone it’s best to make sure that it is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first.
It’s very likely that this problem is caused by a software glitch which is why we will be concentrating our troubleshooting efforts on the software side of the device.
Perform a soft reset
Try to refresh the phone software to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a minor software glitch. This can be done easily by simply restarting the device.
- Press and hold the Power key for up to 45 seconds.
- Wait as the device restarts.
Check if the issue still occurs.
Start the phone in Safe Mode
There are cases when an app you downloaded will cause the Honor 10 screen flickering issue on the phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.
- Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
- Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Honor logo on screen.
- After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
- Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
- Once the phone boots up, “Safe mode” should be appeared on the bottom of the screen
In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
You will need to perform a trial and error method to find out the particular app that’s causing this problem. Restart the phone normally then uninstall the last app you downloaded before the issue occurred. Check if the screen still flickers. Repeat this step until the screen stops flickering after uninstalling an app. The last app you uninstalled is most likely what’s causing the problem.
Wipe the cache partition of the phone
There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your device simultaneously for a few seconds
- The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
- Use volume buttons to highlight “wipe cache partition” and use power key to select it
- Reboot the system once the process is completed
Check if the issue still occurs.
Perform a factory reset
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then there is a chance that this is caused by a system glitch. The best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your device simultaneously for a few seconds
- The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
- Use volume buttons to highlight select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
- Reboot the system once the process is completed
Setup the phone, but do not install any apps yet, then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
