It has a 6.53 inch LTPS IPS LCD display while under the hood is a Mediatak Helio P70 processor combined with 6GB of RAM which allows the device to multitask with ease. Although this is a solid performing device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Oppo F11 Pro black screen of death issue.

How To Fix Oppo F11 Pro Black Screen of Death Issue

The Black Screen of Death issue is characterized by the phone display not turning on or showing anything. When in this state the phone might still be getting notifications but the display remains black. There are several factors that can cause this problem one of which is a software glitch while the other is a faulty hardware component. If you are experiencing this issue with your phone then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Make sure the phone is fully charged

The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. This will eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a drained battery.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in it.
  • Fully charge the phone with a charging cord and wall charger that have been tested to work on another device.
  • If the phone does not charge with a wall charger then try charging the device from a computer USB port.

Once the battery is fully charged check if you can turn on the phone.

Perform a soft reset

One of the first things you will need to do is to refresh the phone software by doing a soft reset. This will usually resolve issue caused by minor software glitches.

  • Press and hold the Power a key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

There are instances when an app you downloaded can cause this particular issue. To check if this is the case you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn Off your phone.
  • Press and Hold Power Button.
  • Release Power button and hold Volume Down Key when you see the Oppo animation.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down Key until Safe Mode appears.

If your phone starts in this mode then you will be able to backup your phone data. Once this is done you should find out what app is causing the problem then uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition

There are instances when a corrupted system cached data can cause this problem. It’s therefore a good idea to delete this data as the phone will just rebuild this data when it starts again.

  • Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
  • Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
  • Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
  • Select language.
  • Select Wipe Cache Partition.
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. This will bring your phone back to its original factory condition. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process .

  • Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
  • Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
  • Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
  • Select language.
  • Select  Wipe data and Wipe data(Keep SMS, Contacts and Photos).
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

If the above steps doesn’t fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already.
