Fix #1: Make sure FaceTime is enabled

The update may have turned the service off or left activation incomplete.

  1. Open Settings > Apps > FaceTime.
  2. Make sure FaceTime is turned on.
  3. Wait for activation to complete if prompted.

Fix #2: Check Wi-Fi, cellular data, and Apple ID

FaceTime needs a stable internet connection and a valid Apple account.

  1. Confirm the iPhone 17 is online over Wi-Fi or cellular.
  2. Check that you are signed in with the correct Apple ID.
  3. Verify the right phone number and email are selected under FaceTime.

Fix #3: Toggle FaceTime off and on

This forces a fresh registration with Apple servers.

  1. Turn FaceTime off in Settings.
  2. Restart the iPhone 17.
  3. Turn FaceTime back on and test a call again.

Fix #4: Reset network settings

This is a strong fix when FaceTime activation or calling fails after an update.

  1. Open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
  2. Tap Reset Network Settings.
  3. Reconnect to Wi-Fi and test FaceTime again.

If FaceTime still does not work on your iPhone 17, check Apple’s System Status page and try again later. Persistent activation errors may require signing out of Apple ID and back in.
