How to fix iPhone 14 no service after replacing SIM
If your iPhone 14 shows ‘No Service’ after replacing the SIM card, try these steps.
Method 1: Reinsert the SIM
Sometimes the SIM isn’t seated properly.
- Power off the iPhone.
- Eject the SIM tray, remove the SIM, reinsert firmly.
- Ensure the tray is fully inserted and locked.
Method 2: Contact Carrier to Activate
New SIM cards often need to be activated on the carrier’s network.
- Call your carrier’s support or visit their store to have them provision the SIM.
- Provide the SIM’s ICCID number if requested.
Method 3: Check SIM Compatibility
Ensure the SIM is compatible with iPhone 14 (nano-SIM) and your carrier’s network (GSM/CDMA). Some older SIMs may not work; request a new SIM from the carrier.
Method 4: Update Carrier Settings
After inserting a new SIM, the iPhone may prompt to download carrier settings.
- Connect to Wi-Fi; go to Settings > General > About; if an update is available, a prompt will appear.
- Alternatively, try Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network and scroll to see if carrier options appear.
Method 5: Restart the iPhone
Power off and back on to force network re-registration.
Method 6: Reset Network Settings
If the iPhone still doesn’t recognize the SIM, reset network settings.
- Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Reboot; wait for carrier detection.
Method 7: Test with Another SIM
To rule out a faulty SIM, try a different SIM from the same or another carrier. If the other SIM works, your new SIM may be defective; request a replacement.
Method 8: Contact Apple Support
If no SIM works and the iPhone still shows No Service, the SIM tray or baseband chip may be damaged. Seek diagnostics.
Replacing a SIM should be straightforward, but activation and provisioning are key. Work with your carrier first.
