How to fix iPhone 14 Bluetooth audio stuttering in car
If Bluetooth audio stutters in your car with iPhone 14, follow these steps.
Method 1: Forget and Re-pair the Car
On iPhone: Settings > Bluetooth, tap the “i” next to your car, choose Forget This Device. Then re-pair: Put your car’s system in pairing mode; select it from iPhone Bluetooth list and follow prompts.
Method 2: Restart Both Devices
- Power off the iPhone and restart.
- Power cycle your car’s infotainment system (turn off engine, wait, restart) or reset Bluetooth module if possible.
Method 3: Update iOS and Car System
- Update iPhone to latest iOS.
- Check for car firmware updates (dealership or manufacturer website). Some cars require USB flash updates.
Method 4: Disable Phone Noise Cancellation (if available)
Some iPhone models have noise cancellation that can interfere with Bluetooth audio quality.
- Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual: try toggling Phone Noise Cancellation off.
Method 5: Reset Network Settings
Corrupted Bluetooth stack can cause stutter.
- Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Reboot; re-pair car.
Method 6: Check for Interference
Other Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz, or faulty cables in the car can create interference. Try:
- Turning off Wi-Fi on iPhone temporarily.
- Disconnect other Bluetooth devices nearby.
Method 7: Try Alternative Audio Codec
If your car supports multiple Bluetooth codecs (like aptX), you might switch via third-party apps, but iOS doesn’t expose codec selection. However, ensuring both devices support the same profile (A2DP) helps.
Method 8: Use USB Audio Instead
If Bluetooth continues to stutter, connect your iPhone via USB-Lightning to the car’s USB port; audio will often be more stable.
Bluetooth stutter is commonly resolved by re-pairing and updating software. If problem persists, hardware issues in either device could be the cause.
