How to fix iPhone 13 Personal Hotspot missing or not working
If Personal Hotspot is missing or not working on your iPhone 14, follow these steps to restore it.
Method 1: Verify Carrier Support
Personal Hotspot requires carrier support; some plans exclude it or need separate activation.
- Contact your carrier to ensure hotspot is enabled on your line.
- Also verify you haven’t exceeded any data caps that might disable hotspot.
Method 2: Toggle Cellular Data and Hotspot
- Turn off Cellular Data; wait 5 seconds; turn it back on.
- Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot; toggle it Off and back On.
- Ensure “Allow Others to Join” is enabled.
Method 3: Restart the iPhone
Power off and back on to reset network services.
Method 4: Update iOS and Carrier Settings
New iOS versions often fix hotspot bugs.
- Update iOS via Settings > General > Software Update.
- Insert another carrier’s SIM to prompt carrier settings update; then reinsert your original SIM.
Method 5: Reset Network Settings
Corrupted network configuration can affect hotspot. This erases Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and cellular settings.
- Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Reboot; reconfigure hotspot and Wi-Fi.
Method 6: Check APN Settings
Incorrect APN can break tethering.
- Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network.
- Scroll to Personal Hotspot: ensure Username and Password are blank, and APN matches your carrier’s default.
- If unsure, reset to carrier defaults by toggling “Reset Settings” at bottom, or contact carrier for correct APN.
Method 7: Try USB or Bluetooth Tethering
If Wi-Fi hotspot fails, try alternative tethering methods:
- Connect iPhone to computer via USB and enable Personal Hotspot; the computer may recognize it as a network interface.
- Pair via Bluetooth and use Bluetooth PAN.
These can work around Wi-Fi module issues.
If hotspot still doesn’t work, contact your carrier or Apple Support as there may be account or hardware restrictions.
