How to fix iPhone 13 keeps disconnecting from home Wi-Fi

If your iPhone 13 keeps disconnecting from your home Wi-Fi despite being in range, use these steps to stabilize the connection.

Method 1: Toggle Wi-Fi and Forget Network

  1. In Settings > Wi-Fi, turn Wi-Fi Off for 10 seconds, then turn it back On.
  2. Tap the “i” next to your home network and choose Forget This Network.
  3. Rejoin the network by selecting it and entering the password.

This clears any stale session data and forces a fresh authentication.

Method 2: Restart iPhone and Router

Both devices benefit from a fresh start.

  • Power off the iPhone completely; wait 30 seconds; turn it back on.
  • Unplug the router for 30 seconds; plug back in; wait for full boot.
  • Reconnect the iPhone.

Method 3: Disable Wi-Fi Assist

Wi-Fi Assist switches to cellular when Wi-Fi is weak, which can cause apparent disconnections if the threshold is low.

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular (Mobile Data).
  2. Scroll down and turn off Wi-Fi Assist.

Method 4: Update iOS and Router Firmware

Compatibility bugs can cause instability.

  • Update iPhone iOS to the latest version (Settings > General > Software Update).
  • Update your router’s firmware (check manufacturer’s website or admin interface).

Method 5: Reset Network Settings

If the iPhone’s network configuration is corrupted, reset it. This erases all saved Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and cellular settings, but personal data is safe.

  1. Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  2. Enter passcode; wait for reboot.
  3. Rejoin your home Wi-Fi.

Method 6: Check for Wireless Interference

  • Keep the iPhone away from microwaves, cordless phones, baby monitors, and other 2.4 GHz devices.
  • If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try switching to 2.4 GHz for better range (iPhone 13 supports both, but 2.4 GHz is more stable through walls).
  • Change your router’s Wi-Fi channel to avoid congestion from neighboring networks.

Method 7: Renew DHCP Lease

Sometimes the IP lease can cause disconnections.

  1. In Wi-Fi settings, tap the “i” next to your network.
  2. Scroll to Configure IP > tap it > choose Manual temporarily then back to Automatic, or simply Renew if available.
  3. Save and exit.

Consistent disconnections are usually resolved by forgetting the network, resetting settings, or updating software. Work through these steps to pinpoint the cause.
