How To Fix Huawei P20 Pro Camera Photos Not Saved

Problem: Hi, i’ve just got this phone so getting used to it. While using the camera i was trying to focus the camera on a close up image and held the shutter button down but multiple shots were taking instead then the app shut down. Since this happened when i take a photo and then try to view it says No files in gallery. When i go to gallery the photo is not there. I’ve done various things… turned off and on again, cleared cache etc but still the same. When i’ve look in my files no images are there and neither is the option how to store images. I have not got an sd card in yet but the camera and gallery has been working fine till then and i have plenty of storage in the phone. Hope you can help… cheers

Solution: Before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps for this particular problem it’s best to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it in your phone first.

Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode

When you start the phone in Safe Mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. This makes it easier for you to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem.

  • Turn off the phone
  • Turn on the phone
  • As soon as you see the Huawei logo on the screen start clicking on the volume DOWN button repeatedly
  • When on you will see the Safe Mode on the bottom left and all none pre-installed apps are not operational

Try taking a photo then check if this photo appears in the Gallery app. In case it does then the problem is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Perform a factory reset

In case the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. This will revert the phone back to its original factory condition. Since your phone data will be deleted in the process it’s important to backup your phone data before proceeding with this step.

  • Go to the Start screen.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll down then tap System.
  • Tap Reset
  • Tap Factory data reset.
  • Tap RESET PHONE.
  • Tap RESET PHONE.
  • All data and settings saved on the Huawei P20 Pro will be deleted. The Huawei P20 Pro will automatically reset and reboot.
  • The Huawei P20 Pro has been reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
