How to Fix Galaxy S25 Ultra Black Screen After Update

Galaxy S25 Ultra Black Screen After Update is usually caused by a bad settings change, corrupted cache, or a software process that broke right after the latest update.

Fix #1: Force restart the Galaxy S25 Ultra

A post-update black screen is often a system crash instead of a dead display.

  1. Press and hold Volume Down and the Side button for about 10 to 15 seconds.
  2. Release both buttons when the Samsung logo appears.
  3. If the screen comes back, monitor the phone for another crash.

Fix #2: Charge the phone for at least 30 minutes

A firmware update can leave the battery fully drained even if the screen stays black.

  1. Use a known-good Samsung-compatible USB-C cable and wall charger.
  2. Leave the phone charging for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Try another force restart while it is still plugged in.

Fix #3: Remove accessories and let the phone cool down

Cases, power banks, docks, and heat can keep the phone from booting normally after an update.

  1. Remove the case and disconnect USB accessories.
  2. If the phone feels hot, let it cool for several minutes.
  3. Try turning it on again after it reaches a normal temperature.

Fix #4: Boot into Recovery and wipe the cache partition

Corrupted system cache is a common reason a Samsung phone shows a black screen after an update.

  1. Turn the phone off completely if possible.
  2. Connect it to a computer with USB if your model needs it for Recovery access.
  3. Press and hold Volume Up and the Side button until Recovery appears.
  4. Select Wipe cache partition, then choose Reboot system now.

Fix #5: Try Safe Mode if the screen returns briefly

If the display works in Safe Mode, a third-party app may be crashing the phone right after startup.

  1. Press and hold the Side button until the power menu appears.
  2. Touch and hold Power off until Safe mode appears.
  3. Tap Safe mode and uninstall recently updated launcher, security, or display-related apps.

Fix #6: Use Smart Switch or Recovery update if it still will not boot

A failed firmware install can leave the phone stuck on a black screen until the system image is repaired.

  1. Connect the phone to a computer and open Samsung Smart Switch if available.
  2. Check whether an emergency software recovery or update option is offered.
  3. If Recovery is available, try rebooting from there first before factory reset.

Fix #7: Factory reset only as a last software step

If the update corrupted the system badly, a clean reset may be the only way to boot again.

  1. Boot back into Recovery Mode.
  2. Choose Wipe data/factory reset.
  3. Confirm the reset, then reboot and set up the phone again.

Fix #8: Get Samsung service if the phone stays black on every boot

If the phone is detected by a computer but the display never lights up, the problem may be hardware.

  1. Test with another charger and cable one more time.
  2. Check whether the phone vibrates, rings, or shows up in Smart Switch.
  3. If it does but the screen stays black, book Samsung repair and mention that it started right after the update.
