How to Fix Galaxy S25 Not Charging or Charging Slowly
A Galaxy S25 that is not charging or is charging very slowly can quickly turn into a high-intent support issue, especially when the battery keeps dropping even while plugged in. The most common causes are a dirty USB-C port, a weak charger, cable damage, moisture detection, background heat control, or a software glitch.
This guide covers the fixes that work most often on the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra.
Fix #1: Confirm the charger and cable are working properly
Use a known-good USB-C cable and a wall charger that supports Samsung fast charging standards. If you are using a laptop port, power bank, cheap adapter, or worn cable, charging may be extremely slow or fail completely.
Try another official or high-quality charger before moving on.
Fix #2: Inspect and clean the USB-C port
Look inside the charging port with a flashlight. Pocket lint and dust can stop the cable from seating fully, which causes unstable charging. Gently remove debris with a wooden toothpick or a soft anti-static brush.
Do not use metal tools because they can damage the port pins.
Fix #3: Restart the phone
A temporary system process can interfere with charging detection. Restart the Galaxy S25 normally, or do a force restart by holding Volume Down and the Side button for about 20 seconds.
Fix #4: Turn off Fast Charging briefly and test again
Go to Settings > Battery > Charging settings and turn off Fast charging for a test. If the phone charges normally afterward, the issue may be heat-related, charger-related, or tied to cable quality.
You can re-enable it later after testing with better accessories.
Fix #5: Let the phone cool down
If the Galaxy S25 is warm, charging speed may be reduced on purpose to protect the battery. Remove the case, stop gaming or camera use, keep the phone out of direct sunlight, and charge it again once it cools.
Overheating and slow charging often happen together.
Fix #6: Check for moisture detection alerts
If you see a moisture warning, unplug the charger and let the port dry completely. You can place the phone in front of a fan for a while, but avoid using direct heat. Once the warning clears, test charging again.
Fix #7: Test wireless charging
If wired charging fails but wireless charging works, the problem likely involves the cable, brick, or USB-C port rather than the battery itself. That is a useful clue before considering service.
Fix #8: Update the phone
Go to Settings > Software update and install any pending update. Charging bugs sometimes appear after a firmware release and are fixed in a later patch.
Fix #9: Reset settings
Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset all settings. This restores system settings without erasing your personal files and can fix stubborn power-management problems.
Fix #10: Back up data and get the port checked if charging still fails
If the Galaxy S25 still does not charge reliably with multiple known-good chargers, the USB-C port, charging flex, or battery may need service. Back up your files as soon as possible while you still have power.
