How to Fix Galaxy S25 Black Screen Issues

A black screen on the Galaxy S25 can happen even when the phone is still powered on. In many cases, the display is unresponsive because of a software crash, low battery, or display-related glitch.

Method 1: Force restart the phone

This is the fastest way to recover from a temporary system freeze.

  1. Press and hold Volume Down and the Side key together.
  2. Keep holding them for 15 to 20 seconds.
  3. Release the buttons once the Samsung logo appears.
  4. Check if the screen comes back normally.

Method 2: Charge the phone before trying again

A deeply discharged battery may leave the display completely dark.

  1. Plug the phone into a working charger.
  2. Leave it connected for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Try a force restart while the phone is still plugged in.
  4. If possible, test another cable and charging brick.

Method 3: Check for accidental brightness or screen timeout issues

Sometimes the phone is on but the display settings make it seem dead.

  1. Press the Side key once.
  2. Call the phone from another number to see if it rings or vibrates.
  3. If it responds, unlock it and raise screen brightness.
  4. Turn off Extra dim or Bedtime-related grayscale settings if enabled.

Method 4: Remove accessories and case

A faulty accessory or overheating case can interfere with normal operation.

  1. Remove the protective case.
  2. Disconnect all USB-C accessories.
  3. Take off magnetic or battery attachments.
  4. Restart the phone again.

Method 5: Boot into Safe Mode

If the screen works in Safe Mode, a third-party app may be causing the problem.

  1. Turn the phone on.
  2. When the Samsung logo appears, press and hold Volume Down.
  3. Keep holding it until the lock screen appears.
  4. If Safe mode appears on the screen, uninstall recently added apps.

Method 6: Wipe cache partition

This can help if the black screen is caused by corrupted temporary files.

  1. Turn the phone off.
  2. Boot into Recovery Mode with Volume Up and the Side key.
  3. Select Wipe cache partition.
  4. Confirm the action.
  5. Reboot the phone.

Method 7: Factory reset the device

Use this only if the display issue started after an update or app install and nothing else helps.

  1. Back up your data if possible.
  2. Boot into Recovery Mode.
  3. Select Wipe data/factory reset.
  4. Confirm the reset.
  5. Reboot and set the phone up again.
