How To Fix A Nokia 7.1 That Will Not Charge

Problem: Yesterday afternoon, my Nokia 7.1 fell into water and was immediately picked up and dried off, wrapped in a dry towel and placed upright. The phone did not turn off or have any issues, it still functions completely. A few hours later, if the phone would not charge. However, a few hours after that the phone was able to charge completely. The next day, the phone will not charge. I tried 2 different chargers. Sometimes it will charge for a few minutes and immediately stop charging. The phone still worked normally but will not charge at all. Is there any way to fix it? Or recover its content?

Related Problem: I am having a problem with charging my phone. It will will charge for a short amount of time, and then the brightness will fluctuate from low to high very quickly for 2 seconds, and then the screen will the black for a few seconds, with a small white “x” in the corner (as far as I am concerned the x doesn’t seem to do anything.) The phone will then stop charging and will not react to a charger being plugged in. The chargers I use work perfectly with any and all other phones and devices (I tested it with family and friends). Do you think you could find out the problem? I can’t seem to find an answer on the internet. Thanks in advance.

Solution: Let’s first consider the fact that this phone does not have any waterproof feature. If it comes into contact with water then there’s a possibility that an internal component could get damaged. Having said that let’s take a look at some of the troubleshooting steps that can be done when this phone does not charge.

The first thing that you need to do in this case is to make sure that the connection between the charger and the phone does not have any issues at all. Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. This action will remove any dirt or debris stuck in the charging port. Once this is done try to check if the phone will charge.

Next, try using a different charging cord. This cord is usually the culprit in charging problems as it gets damaged easily. If using a different charging cord does not help then try using a different wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
