How to Fix a Galaxy S25 That Won’t Turn On

If your Galaxy S25 won’t turn on, the problem is usually caused by a drained battery, a temporary system crash, or a charging issue. Try the methods below in order so you can rule out simple causes before assuming hardware damage.

Method 1: Charge the phone for at least 30 minutes

A completely drained battery may prevent the phone from responding right away.

  1. Connect your Galaxy S25 to a known working wall charger.
  2. Use the original Samsung cable if possible.
  3. Leave the phone charging for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Watch for a charging icon, vibration, or screen activity.
  5. If nothing appears, try another cable, charger, and wall outlet.

Method 2: Force restart the device

A force restart can bring the phone back if Android has frozen in the background.

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Side key at the same time.
  2. Keep both buttons pressed for up to 20 seconds.
  3. Release them when the Samsung logo appears.
  4. Let the phone finish booting.

Method 3: Inspect and clean the charging port

Dust or lint in the USB-C port can prevent proper charging.

  1. Power the phone off if it shows any sign of life.
  2. Shine a light into the charging port.
  3. Remove visible debris carefully using a wooden toothpick or soft brush.
  4. Do not use metal tools that can damage the pins.
  5. Try charging again after cleaning.

Method 4: Try wireless charging

This helps determine whether the wired charging port is the issue.

  1. Place the Galaxy S25 on a compatible wireless charger.
  2. Align the phone properly on the charging pad.
  3. Wait a few minutes for the charging screen to appear.
  4. If wireless charging works, the cable, adapter, or port may be faulty.

Method 5: Boot into Recovery Mode and wipe cache partition

A corrupted system cache can sometimes prevent proper startup.

  1. Connect the phone to a computer with a USB cable if required.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Side key.
  3. Release both when the Recovery screen appears.
  4. Use the volume buttons to highlight Wipe cache partition.
  5. Press the Side key to confirm.
  6. Select Reboot system now after the process finishes.

Method 6: Factory reset from Recovery Mode

This step removes software corruption but also erases your data.

  1. Boot into Recovery Mode.
  2. Highlight Wipe data/factory reset.
  3. Press the Side key to confirm.
  4. Choose Factory data reset.
  5. Wait for the reset to complete.
  6. Select Reboot system now.

Method 7: Get the phone checked for hardware damage

If the phone still shows no signs of life, a hardware problem is more likely.

  1. Check for signs of liquid exposure or physical damage.
  2. Stop trying random chargers if the device gets hot.
  3. Contact Samsung support or visit an authorized service center.
