How to Create Polls on Facebook Posts and Fix Missing Poll Options

Facebook polls can be a great way to interact with your audience and get quick feedback. However, Facebook has recently removed the poll options from personal profiles and pages, limiting polls to only being available in Facebook groups. This guide will show you how to properly create Facebook polls in groups and troubleshoot issues if you aren’t seeing the poll option.

Steps to Create a Poll in Facebook Groups:

  1. Navigate to the Facebook group where you want to create the poll. This can be a group you manage or are a member of.
  2. Click the “Write something…” box to create a new post.
  3. Click the three dots next to the post box and select “Poll” from the dropdown menu.
  4. Enter your poll question in the provided space.
  5. Enter at least two answer options people can choose from. You can add more options by clicking the plus icon.
  6. Check the box if you want to allow people to vote for multiple answers.
  7. Check the box if you want to allow members to add their own custom answer option.
  8. Click Post or Schedule to publish your poll post immediately or at a later pre-selected time.

Troubleshooting Tips:

If you aren’t seeing the poll option, make sure you are:

  • Posting from a Facebook group, not your personal profile or a Facebook page. Polls are ONLY available in groups now.
  • Using the latest version of the Facebook mobile app or are on the desktop website. Older versions may not show the updated features.
  • Clicking on the three dots next to the post box to reveal the extended menu. The poll option is in this menu.

Facebook has limited polls to only being available when posting in groups. Follow the steps here to create your poll post. Double check the troubleshooting tips if you still aren’t able to access the poll option. Posting polls can increase engagement, so make use of this feature in your Facebook groups.
