How to Change Facebook Marketplace Location to U.S. Listings

If your Facebook Marketplace is showing local or foreign listings, you can switch it to show U.S.-based items easily. This guide explains every method to view or buy from U.S. sellers even if you’re abroad or traveling.

Method 1: Change Your Facebook Marketplace Region Manually

  1. Open Facebook and go to Marketplace.
  2. Click the “Location” pin icon near the search bar.
  3. Type a U.S. city such as “Los Angeles, CA” or “New York, NY.”
  4. Adjust the search radius (e.g., 50 miles) to focus on that area.
  5. Save the location and refresh the page to see U.S. listings.

Method 2: Change Your Facebook Profile Location

  1. Click your profile photo and select “About.”
  2. Go to “Places Lived” and click “Add a Current City.”
  3. Enter a U.S. city and save the change.
  4. Return to Marketplace and it should now show local items based on that new city.

Method 3: Use Facebook Language and Region Settings

  1. Go to Settings → Language and Region.
  2. Under “Region Format,” choose “United States.”
  3. Change “Language” to “English (US).”
  4. Reload Marketplace to apply the new format and listings.

Method 4: Use Facebook.com on Desktop Instead of App

  1. Visit facebook.com/marketplace on a desktop browser.
  2. In the URL bar, you can directly edit the location by adding ?location=Los+Angeles%2C+CA.
  3. Press Enter and confirm the listings are now from the United States.

Method 5: Clear App Data and Set Location Again (Mobile)

  1. On iPhone or Android, open Settings → Apps → Facebook.
  2. Tap “Storage” → “Clear Data” (or “Offload App” on iPhone).
  3. Reopen Facebook and log in.
  4. Go to Marketplace → Location → Set a U.S. city again.

Method 6: Enable Location Services and Use a U.S. GPS Region

  1. Make sure Facebook has permission to use Location Services.
  2. Temporarily set your GPS location to a U.S. city if you are abroad.
  3. Open Marketplace, and listings will refresh to match the detected region.

Method 7: Create a Separate U.S. Facebook Account

  1. Log out of your current Facebook account.
  2. Create a new one with your region set to the U.S. and use an American city in your address.
  3. Log into Marketplace and verify that all listings now show U.S. sellers.

Method 8: Search Directly for U.S. Sellers or Keywords

  1. In the Marketplace search bar, type “shipping from USA” or “Los Angeles couch.”
  2. Include “CA,” “TX,” or “NY” in your search terms.
  3. Use “Nationwide shipping” filters where available.

Method 9: Join U.S. Marketplace Groups

  1. Search “Marketplace USA,” “Buy & Sell Los Angeles,” or “NYC Marketplace” in Facebook Groups.
  2. Join active local buy/sell groups.
  3. After joining, your feed will start prioritizing listings from those U.S. groups.

Method 10: Use Facebook Lite or an Older Marketplace URL

  1. Install Facebook Lite, which sometimes ignores auto-location restrictions.
  2. Set your location manually to any U.S. city.
  3. Visit facebook.com/marketplace/you/selling in a browser to confirm it loads U.S. data.
