How to Bulk Delete Images and Videos on Canva to Clear Storage

As Canva becomes central to your design workflow, your storage can quickly fill up with unused images and videos. If you’re hitting your Canva storage limit or simply want to stay organized, bulk deleting media is an essential task.

However, Canva does not currently offer a built-in “select all” or true bulk deletion for uploaded files, which means users have to get creative. This tutorial will walk you through every available method to remove images and videos efficiently, whether you’re a free or Pro user.

Method 1: Delete Uploads Manually (One-by-One or in Batches)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open Canva and log into your account.
  2. On the left-hand panel, click on “Projects” (formerly known as “All your designs”).
  3. Click on the “Uploads” tab to view all the images and videos you’ve uploaded.
  4. Hover over any image or video. A three-dot menu (⋯) or checkbox may appear.
  5. To select multiple items efficiently:
    • First, click on one image or video to focus.
    • Then use your keyboard:
      • Press Tab to move to the next item.
      • Press Spacebar to select it.
      • Repeat the pattern: Tab → Spacebar, Tab → Spacebar, to quickly select multiple files.
  6. Once selected, click the Trash icon or choose “Move to Trash” from the ⋯ menu.
  7. Go to the Trash tab (still under Projects).
  8. Click “Empty Trash” to permanently delete the files and free up storage.

⚠️ Canva does not currently support selecting all uploads in one click. You must manually select items, though multiple selection helps.

📁 Method 2: Use Canva’s “Folders” to Batch Manage

This is a workaround that simplifies media sorting and allows you to organize and delete in bulk more easily.

How to Do It

  1. Navigate to the “Folders” section in the left sidebar.
  2. Create a new folder (e.g., “To Delete”).
  3. Drag and drop all old or unused uploads into this folder.
  4. Open the folder and use the multi-select method (Ctrl/Cmd + Click).
  5. Click the Trash icon or use the three-dot menu to delete.

✅ Works best for Canva Pro users, who have more folder organization features.

🔍 Method 3: Filter and Delete by File Type or Date

Canva lets you filter uploaded files by type (e.g., images, videos, audio) and recently added.

How to Use Filters

  1. Open the Uploads panel.
  2. Click the filter icon (top-right in uploads pane).
  3. Filter by “Images”, “Videos”, or “Recently Uploaded”.
  4. Select multiple files using Ctrl/Cmd + Click.
  5. Delete them as shown in earlier steps.

📌 Tip: Use this to delete all videos or all images from a certain time period.

🧼 Method 4: Delete Directly from Inside Designs (If Applicable)

If you only want to delete unused assets that are linked to specific designs:

  1. Open a design that contains the image or video.
  2. Click on the asset in the canvas or in the “Uploads” tab on the left.
  3. Click “Move to Trash” or just hit Delete.
  4. Repeat for other elements.

Useful for tracking down which uploads were actually used in designs.

🚫 Method 5: Clear Entire Trash Folder

Files moved to Trash still take up storage until permanently deleted.

Clear Trash to Free Up Space

  1. Go to Projects → Trash.
  2. Click “Empty Trash” at the top right.
  3. Confirm the action.

🔁 Regularly empty your Trash to maintain a lean Canva workspace.

🧑‍💻 Bonus Method: Start Fresh With a New Brand/Team (Advanced)

If your Canva workspace is too cluttered and you’re part of a team or Brand Hub, you can:

  1. Create a new team or brand workspace (Canva Pro required).
  2. Migrate only essential assets to the new space.
  3. Leave the older workspace untouched (or delete it later).

Useful for long-term storage management and version control.

⚙️ Limitations and Tips

  • No true “Select All” option yet: Users have requested this feature, but Canva hasn’t implemented it.
  • Use Canva Pro’s folders and Brand Kits to organize assets better in the future.
  • Use naming conventions for uploads (e.g., “old_”, “draft_”, “clientX_”) to find and delete in batches more easily.
  • Remember: Designs that use a deleted upload may break if the asset is permanently removed.

While Canva doesn’t yet offer a seamless “bulk delete” feature, you can still manage your storage effectively using the combination of multi-select, folders, and filters. Periodically cleaning up your uploads ensures a more efficient, organized, and faster design experience.
