Google Pixel owners already getting July Security Patch
Google has committed to providing monthly security patches to its own devices. Pixel owners already got the June Security Update, but now, only halfway into June, there are reports of some users already getting the July security patch.
Right now, it seems to be primarily Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL owners that are receiving the update. And it seems to be a bit of an accident.
The update going around is actually designated as for internal use only. It fixes “critical bugs”, and comes in at just under 80MB in size with build number PQ3B.190705.003.
We don’t know exactly what the patch fixes, and it isn’t unheard of that Google would “accidentally” release a patch like this.
For the rest of us, we’ll have to wait until July to know the full details and maybe understand more what those “critical bug fixes” are.
