Use USB tethering on Galaxy S25

USB tethering lets your Galaxy S25 share its mobile data with a computer through a USB cable. It is usually more stable than hotspot and can also keep your phone charging while connected.

How to use USB tethering on Galaxy S25

  1. Insert a data-capable USB-C cable, then connect your Galaxy S25 to your computer.
  2. On your phone, open Settings.
  3. Tap Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
  5. Turn on USB tethering.
  6. On your computer, wait a few seconds for the new wired network connection to appear, then test internet access.

If USB tethering is grayed out or not working

  • Make sure you are using a USB cable that supports data transfer, not a charge-only cable.
  • Confirm mobile data is enabled on the phone; USB tethering shares cellular data, not Wi-Fi.
  • Reconnect the cable and try a different USB port on your computer.
  • Set the phone’s USB mode to file transfer/data if your computer does not detect the device.
  • Restart both devices, then enable USB tethering again.

Quick tips

  • Carrier plans may limit tethering or charge extra, so check your plan if there is no internet after connecting.
  • Turn off USB tethering when finished to reduce battery and background data usage.
