How to Fix Samsung Galaxy S22 Not Charging

The Samsung Galaxy S22 can stop charging or charge very slowly due to cable issues, software bugs, or a dirty charging port. Here are all the methods to fix charging problems on your Galaxy S22.

Method 1: Check Charger and Cable

  1. Try a different USB-C cable.
  2. Try a different power adapter (use a 25W or higher adapter for fast charging).
  3. Try a different wall outlet.
  4. Use the original Samsung charger if possible.

Method 2: Clean the Charging Port

  1. Turn off the phone.
  2. Use a flashlight to inspect the USB-C port for lint or debris.
  3. Gently clean with a wooden or plastic toothpick.
  4. Use compressed air to blow out loose particles.

Method 3: Restart Your Phone

  1. Press and hold Volume Down and Power for 10 seconds.
  2. Wait for the phone to restart.
  3. Plug in the charger and check.

Method 4: Check for Moisture

The Galaxy S22 has moisture detection that blocks charging when water is detected in the port.

  1. If you see a water drop icon or “moisture detected” warning, do not charge.
  2. Let the port dry naturally for at least 2 hours.
  3. Do not use a hair dryer or heat source.
  4. Once dry, try charging again.

Method 5: Boot into Safe Mode

  1. Turn off the phone.
  2. Hold Power until Samsung logo appears, then hold Volume Down.
  3. “Safe mode” will appear in the corner.
  4. Try charging in Safe Mode. If it works, a third-party app is the problem.

Method 6: Wipe Cache Partition

  1. Turn off the phone.
  2. Hold Volume Up and Power until Recovery mode appears.
  3. Select “Wipe cache partition” and confirm.
  4. Select “Reboot system now.”

Method 7: Try Wireless Charging

  1. Place your S22 on a Qi wireless charger.
  2. If wireless charging works but wired does not, the USB-C port needs repair.
  3. Contact Samsung support for a port replacement.

Method 8: Factory Reset

  1. Back up your data.
  2. Go to Settings, General management, Reset, Factory data reset.
  3. Tap Reset and confirm.
  4. If charging still fails after reset, contact Samsung for hardware repair.

  1. When I place s22 ultra on charger I get a red triangle with a thermometer inside it. What is causing the problem. I have used other chargers that work on my other phone. Same thing occurs on the phone in question.

  2. I am very frustrated! I tried all the steps of troubleshooting with no success. I have used Samsung for years with never having this problem until I got the Galaxy 22. I have other minor issues but nothing major until now. Can’t login to my provider (Verizon) because I have to get a text with a code, which I can’t get because my phone is dead. Not Happy!

  3. S-22 It stops at 80%. Says to protect the battery. I have way too many issues besides this. Have to drag to answer phone even though it’s set to “push” in settings. Text speech automatically repeats what you just texted, making you erase it. Speech text changes what you say and you better review, because sometimes it’s down right ugly or perverted what it came up with. We’re talking last split second changes after you push send.
