The newest Google Pixel smartphone has a built-in camera self-timer feature that you can use when taking selfies or random images/scenes with the phone's camera.  When activated, it delays and stops the shutter from triggering and taking the picture when the shutter button is pressed or released for a specified period of time.

Outlined below is a step-by-step walkthrough on how to activate and manage this camera feature on the latest Google Pixel smartphone. You can refer to this guide whenever needed.

  1. To get started, open the Camera app on your Pixel 7.

Just find and then tap on the Camera icon from the Home screen or Apps viewer of your phone.

  2. While in the Camera app's main screen, tap on the Dropdown arrow located on the upper-left corner.

Doing so opens a quick menu with various icons and controls.
To continue, find and then Timer from the given options and then tap to select your preferred delay time.

  3. By default, the camera timer is turned off. To enable the feature, simply tap to mark any of the given delayed time.

You can set it to three seconds or 10 seconds accordingly.

  4. Once you're done selecting your preferred time delay, you can start taking a selfie or any picture automatically. Simply open the Camera app then tap on the Shutter button.

The shutter will then automatically trigger based on the specified delay time in the camera app's timer settings.

Should you wish to change the timer, just repeat the same steps to head back to the camera app’s quick settings menu and then choose your desired delay time.

The Google Pixel  auto-timer feature usually aids when taking a full-body selfie using the phone’s great front-facing selfie or a rear camera with both hands in the photo. Setting the camera with a three-second or ten-second timer can give yourself enough time to get into your desired position. The countdown immediately starts as soon as you tap the shutter button.

And that’s how you activate and use the built-in camera timer on the latest Google Pixel 7 smartphone.
