Circle With Horizontal Line Through It On Samsung Galaxy S8

If you own the Samsung Galaxy S8 and are wondering what the circle with the horizontal line on the status bar means then look no further as we will explain what its function. This is actually the icon for the Do Not Disturb (DND) mode of the device.

The DND allows you to block your phone from receiving notifications and alerts. This is a useful feature to have when you are in a situation where you don’t want to be distracted.

By default the DND feature of the phone is off. To activate this feature just follow the steps listed below.

Method 1: Using the quick settings

  • To access the Notification Panel, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  • To display all the Quick Settings, swipe down again.
  • Swipe to the left if needed.
  • Touch Do not disturb.

Method 2: Using the phone settings

  • Navigate to Apps > Settings.
  • Touch Search, and then search for and select Do not disturb.
  • To turn on Do not disturb, touch the slider next to Turn on now.
  • To turn off Do not disturb, touch the slider again.

To set a schedule for the Do Not Disturb Mode to activate

  • Navigate to Apps > Settings.
  • Touch Search, and then search for and select Do not disturb.
  • To set a schedule, touch the slider next to Turn on as scheduled.
  • To adjust the schedule, touch Days, Start time, End time, and then set the schedule to your preference.

To allow exemptions

  • From home, swipe up to access Apps.
  • Tap  Settings – Sounds and vibration – Do not disturb.
  • Tap Allow exceptions, and then tap one of the following options: No exceptions ( Allow no exceptions), Alarms only (Allow exceptions for alarms), Custom (Set your own exceptions).
