How to Fix Valorant Connection Error

Valorant connection errors prevent you from joining matches or staying connected during gameplay. These fixes target the most common networking and client issues.

Method 1: Restart Riot Client and Vanguard

  1. Close Valorant completely.
  2. Right-click the Riot Vanguard icon in the system tray and select Exit Vanguard.
  3. Open Task Manager and end any remaining Riot or Valorant processes.
  4. Restart your PC to reinitialize Vanguard.
  5. Launch Valorant again.

Method 2: Flush DNS and Renew IP

  1. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
  2. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
  3. Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
  4. Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
  5. Restart Valorant and try connecting.

Method 3: Allow Valorant Through Firewall

  1. Open Windows Security > Firewall & network protection.
  2. Click Allow an app through firewall.
  3. Click Change settings and then Allow another app.
  4. Browse to the Valorant and Riot Client executables and add them.
  5. Make sure both Private and Public are checked.
  6. Restart Valorant.

Method 4: Change DNS Servers

  1. Open Network & Internet settings > Change adapter options.
  2. Right-click your active connection and select Properties.
  3. Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  4. Select Use the following DNS server addresses.
  5. Set Preferred to 1.1.1.1 and Alternate to 1.0.0.1 (Cloudflare DNS).
  6. Click OK, restart, and try Valorant again.

Method 5: Reinstall Valorant

  1. Uninstall Valorant from Settings > Apps.
  2. Also uninstall Riot Vanguard.
  3. Restart your PC.
  4. Download the latest Valorant installer from playvalorant.com.
  5. Install and launch the game.
