The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is the first flagship phone of the South Korean company that ditches the physical home button making the display occupy most of the front part of the phone. With no physical button it is now possible for the device to have a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display while still retaining almost the same dimensions as that of the S7. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 screen not turning on after drop issue and other related problems.
S8 Screen Not Turning On After Drop
Problem: Hey guys.. my Samsung galaxy s8 plus suffered a light fall on it’s back from 30 to 50 cms distance on the ground and although it had a case on, the screen wouldn’t turn on. There are no scratches, cracks or whatsoever. The phone still rings when I call and it vibrates.. is it possible that the screen connector just popped out? I’m asking because I don’t want to take it to a repair shop and then get charged for 300 euros when the screen is actually ok and just needs reconnecting. Thank you guys for your help
Solution: Even if the screen connector got disconnected during the drop there is still no way to access this unless the phone is disassembled which I don’t recommend unless you have done this procedure before.
What you should do first right now is to check if this problem is caused by a software glitch by performing the troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs and if it does then you should proceed to the next step.
- Perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
- Start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. Follow this up with a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by some faulty hardware component in which case the best thing to do is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8 Screen Went Black
Problem: Hello. My S8 fell then the screen went black. I tried pressing the power button and volume down button and plugging it into the charger. I’ve tried using the power button to restart and what happens is that it vibrates as if it’s coming on then the light at the top left corner comes on but the screen stays black. When I plug in the charger after this I hear the sound it usually makes when the charger is plugged in and the phone is on. So… I think the phone is ok but the screen is not. Help please.
Related Problem: I have an android S8 and my alarm still goes off, but the screen is blacked out. How can I fix this? My mother bought it in the U.S. but I am living in Thailand and would need to have it fixed here.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then you should perform a factory reset from here as the problem could be caused by a software glitch. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You should have this checked at a service center.
S8 Screen Is Flickering After Drop
Problem: I dropped my phone and the screen on the upper left hand side cracked. The phone then started to flicker as in the screen and now it is constantly flickering to the point where there is like a brown screen and constant flicker between brown and white screen. I can see that the phone still works because I can make calls through Bluetooth in the car and I can feel the vibrations and at the top of the phone I can see the notification bar. Other than that I can’t see nothing on the phone just a constant brown white flicker screen. Could this be the LCD screen?
Solution: It’s very likely that the display assembly of the phone has already been damaged. Because there is already a crack on the screen you will need to have this replaced at a service center.
