Samsung One UI 6.0 Update Coming Soon In These Select Countries and Galaxy Models
Samsung is gearing up to release its next major software update, One UI 6.0, based on Android 14 in the coming months. The update will bring a host of new features and improvements to Galaxy devices.
One UI 6.0 Beta Coming in July
According to reports, Samsung is planning to kick off the One UI 6.0 beta program in July, likely starting with the Galaxy S23 series. The beta will be available in select countries including South Korea, China, Germany, India, Poland, the UK and the US. This will give Samsung fans an early taste of Android 14 before the official stable update.
New Look and Feel
One UI 6.0 is expected to introduce visual refinements to the user interface. Early leaks suggest a refreshed notification panel, updated app icons, new system fonts and an overhauled music player app. Samsung’s stock apps will also get a makeover. The company seems to be aiming for a more cohesive and modern look.
Enhanced Always-On Display
One of the highlights of One UI 6.0 could be major improvements to the Always-On Display. Samsung may take inspiration from the iPhone 14 Pro and add support for full-screen photos on AOD. The new widgets on the lock screen are also rumored to have better customization and functionality.
Under the Hood Improvements
In addition to visual changes, One UI 6.0 will include the usual under-the-hood improvements and optimizations. We can expect faster performance, better battery life and runtime management. Seamless updates could also make their way to Galaxy devices with One UI 6.0.
Expanded Feature Set
Samsung will likely augment One UI’s existing feature set with new additions exclusive to Android 14 and One UI 6.0. Improved connectivity, smarter notifications, upgraded privacy and security controls are some of the potential new capabilities.
Release Timeframe
If Samsung manages to stick to its traditional update roadmap, we can expect to see the One UI 6.0 beta next week on July 26th at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
The final stable update should then roll out to supported devices before the end of 2023. As always, the release will vary across regions and carrier models.
One UI 6.0 promises to be one of Samsung’s biggest firmware updates yet, packed with user-facing improvements and new features. Galaxy device owners have a lot to look forward to in the coming months as Samsung continues to refine and enhance One UI.
Samsung One UI 6 (Android 14) Update: Which Phones Are Eligible
Samsung released Android 13 to Galaxy device owners late last year. The company has done an impressive job of quickly rolling it out for eligible devices. Tens of millions of Galaxy smartphones and tablets are now running Android 13 with One UI 5.0.
The focus now shifts to Android 14. Google has released the first Android 14 Developer Preview in February 2023. Samsung launches its own One UI beta program every year, so we can expect this year’s program to go live in Q3 2023.
As is always the case, a new Android OS upgrade is accompanied by a new One UI version, and Android 14 will be coupled with One UI 6.0.
Samsung has streamlined its software update policies so it’s easy to figure out which devices will get the Android 14 One UI 6.0 update. There are many devices now eligible for four Android OS upgrades, meaning even models up to three years old will receive the update.
