S8 Screen Keeps Blacking Out

Problem: HI, i have a samsung s8 – the screen keeps blacking out. I reboot and it comes back on but then blacks out within minutes. What can i do? can still hear the phone ring and notifications but can do anything to answer or respond – only reboot and start again. any help much appreciated thanks

Solution: If you are able to backup your phone data I suggest you do it before we do some troubleshooting. Try using Smart Switch to backup your phone data. Once the data has been backed up you should start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then proceed with a factory reset. After the reset restart your phone.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then the problem is most likely caused by a faulty display assembly. If this is the case then I suggest that you bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Not Charging Moisture Detected Error

Problem: Hi I have my samsung galaxy s8 for just a month although my phone wont charge. I tried to see if it is the cable that broke but no as after I reconnected the cable my samsung gave me a moisture warning and started vibrating. I took out my phone and dried it although now it doesn’t show anything. I tried rebooting it but it wont respond.

Solution: If you are getting a moisture detected error on your phone then it’s very likely that some moisture is present in the charging port. What you will want to do right now is to make sure that this port is dry. You can do this by placing the phone in a dry place for at least 2 hours to let the moisture naturally evaporate. You can also use a hair dryer to dry this port.

Once the port is dry try charging the phone. If it still does not charge then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • If the phone does not charge then try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the above steps doesn’t fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Moisture Has Been Detected Error

Problem: Yesterday i used my s8 to take pictures in the swimming pool. I waited for 19 hours before i could charge it again. What’s weird is after 8 hours the moisture detector on port showed up again and wont allow me to charge my phone. I mean what the hell? I did not wet my phone anymore after the pool party. What’s wrong with my s8? It’s been 15 days since i got my phone.

Solution: You will usually get the moisture detected error if some moisture is present in the charging port of your phone. What you will want to do right now is to dry this port using a hair dryer.

If the error message persists then you will have to check if this is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Backup To Google Drive Disabled By Admin

Problem: Under the backup and restore option in Samsung S8 settings, i see in my google account that the backup in Google Drive is disabled by the admin. Please advise how can I resolve this. I have my back up settings on for samsung cloud as well as gmail account.

Solution: There are several people also experiencing this very same problem. This has already been reported to Google and they are currently looking at this problem. If your phone is not running on the latest software version then I suggest that you update your phone software right now as the fix will be pushed through an update.

S8 Screen Is Black

Problem: The display of my Samsung phone is black, unable to restart my phone using Power + Menu + Volume up button. Please advise. Thanks

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.

In case it doesn’t restart then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the phone does not turn on then you should bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Installing Firmware

Problem: Can I install India based Firmware on an international version of Galaxy s8 through Odin? My S8 has random reboot issue and samsung is not providing service for devices purchased outside from India. Pls help. Thanks.

Solution: Yes you can install an international firmware version on your phone. You might not have access to some Indian carrier specific features on your phone though after installing an international firmware.
