The robot features advanced robotic technologies allowing it to move independently throughout the home on two articulated legs. Using integrated AI and multi-modal technologies like voice and image recognition, LG claims the robot can actively communicate with household members, understand contexts and intentions, and express emotions through body movements.

Functioning as a mobile smart home hub, the AI agent can connect with and control other smart appliances and IoT devices. It is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Robotics RB5 Platform to enable powerful on-device AI capabilities including face and voice recognition. The robot uses sensors and cameras to monitor the home environment and track metrics like temperature, humidity, and air quality.

LG highlights the AI agent’s versatility and potential for home monitoring and pet care. It can autonomously patrol and notify users of open windows, lights left on, or other unusual activity when away from home. The company states the robot can “act as a pet monitor and security guard” by providing remote viewing and sending alerts about pets.

When residents return home, the friendly bot can greet them at the door, analyze their mood based on visual and verbal cues, and even select appropriate music. It can provide other assistance like weather updates, schedule reminders, and more.

LG plans to showcase the new AI agent robot at its CES 2024 booth. With the bot, the company aims to establish itself as a leader in AI and robotics for the smart home. The AI agent’s price and release date have not yet been announced.
