Jony Ive, lead designer at Apple, takes his leave

Apple’s leader designer on the iPhone and iPad team, Jony Ive, is saying goodbye to the Cupertino-based company as he enters into other ventures.

Jonathan “Jony” Ive has been with the company for 27 years, but will still be “heavily” involved with the ongoings of Apple, he said in an interview to Financial Times.

But now, Ive is starting his own business venture. Called LoveForm, they will be working on wearables and healthcare, as well as some “personal passions,” Ive said.

Apple CEO Tim Cook had this to say:

“We get to continue with the same team that we’ve had for a long time and have the pleasure of continuing to work with Jony. I can’t imagine a better result.”

It doesn’t appear that there is an immediate replacement for Ive, as this transition will be an ongoing process. Ive plans to start his transition from Apple later in 2024.
