How to Fix iPhone 16 Pro WiFi Keeps Disconnecting After Update

Some iPhone 16 Pro owners have noticed their Wi-Fi connection dropping intermittently or refusing to stay connected. The following fixes address the most common causes of Wi-Fi instability on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Fix #1: Forget and Rejoin the Wi-Fi Network

Corrupted network credentials can cause the iPhone 16 Pro to repeatedly drop the connection. Forgetting the network forces a clean reconnection.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the i icon next to the problematic network.
  3. Tap Forget This Network and confirm.
  4. Reconnect by selecting the network and entering the password.

Fix #2: Force Restart

A force restart clears temporary memory and can resolve Wi-Fi driver glitches.

  1. Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
  3. Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

Fix #3: Disable Wi-Fi Networking in Location Services

Wi-Fi scanning for location services can interfere with the connection on some networks.

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
  2. Scroll down and tap System Services.
  3. Turn off Wi-Fi Networking.

Fix #4: Reset Network Settings

This clears all saved networks, VPN profiles, and Bluetooth pairings. It is the most thorough software fix for Wi-Fi issues.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Tap Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  3. Enter your passcode and confirm.

Fix #5: Change DNS Server

Your router’s default DNS may be causing slowdowns or drops. Switching to a public DNS can improve stability.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the i icon next to your network.
  2. Tap Configure DNS and select Manual.
  3. Remove existing entries and add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
  4. Tap Save.

Fix #6: Update iOS

Apple may have already patched the Wi-Fi issue in a newer iOS release.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  2. Install any available update.

Fix #7: Check for VPN or Proxy Interference

Third-party VPN apps or proxy configurations from survey or rewards apps can silently break Wi-Fi connectivity.

  1. Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management.
  2. If any VPN profiles are listed that you do not recognize, delete them.
  3. Also check Settings > Wi-Fi > (your network) > Configure Proxy and set it to Off.
