Although this is a solid platform there are instances when certain issues can occur. Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular issue you should make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. This will at least minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version.

Restart your phone

Your phone will usually store the most commonly used data to improve its performance. This data can sometimes get corrupted which is why you will need to flush this temporary data out of your phone by restarting the device. To perform this procedure just press and hold the Power button and Volume Down until the device powers off. To turn on the phone press on the power button again.

  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.

For Huawei devices

  • Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
  • Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Huawei logo on screen.
  • After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
  • Once the phone boots up,  “Safe mode” should appear on the bottom of the screen

If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. Finding the app is going to be a trial and error method. You  should uninstall the last app you downloaded then check if the issue still occurs. Repeat this step until the issue no longer occurs. The last app you uninstalled might be what’s causing the problem.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

For Samsung devices

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

For Huawei devices

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
  • Use volume buttons to highlight “wipe cache partition” and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then the best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

For Samsung devices

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.
  • With no apps installed in the phone, try to check if the issue still occurs.

For Huawei devices

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
  • Use volume buttons to highlight  select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

After the reset the issue will most likely be resolved.
