How to Evolve Yanma in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Guide
How to Evolve Yanma in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Yanma, a dual-type Bug and Flying Pokémon, has been a part of the Pokémon universe since its introduction in Ruby & Sapphire, but it wasn't until Diamond & Pearl that it gained its evolution into Yanmega. With the release of the DLC "The Teal Mask" for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players can once again evolve Yanma into Yanmega. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to achieve this evolution.
Where to Find Yanma
Before you can evolve Yanma, you need to catch one. Yanma can be found in the Kitakami region, which is part of the "The Teal Mask" DLC. Specifically, you can locate Yanma in grassy and rocky areas, including the northern and southern tips of Kitakami, as well as the center and southwestern parts of the region. Notable locations include the Kitakami Road near the rice paddies and the fields by the Bus Stop.
Leveling Up Yanma
To evolve Yanma into Yanmega, it must reach at least level 33. At this level, Yanma will learn the move Ancient Power, which is crucial for the evolution process. If you catch a Yanma that is already above level 33, you will need to ensure it knows Ancient Power by accessing the "Remember Moves" option in the "Change Moves" menu.
Ensuring Yanma Knows Ancient Power
If your Yanma is already above level 33, follow these steps to ensure it knows Ancient Power:
- Open the Main Menu: Press the X button to open the main menu.
- Select Yanma: Choose Yanma from your party.
- Check Summary: Select "Check summary" and then navigate to the "Moves and Stats" screen.
- Remember Moves: Press A and select "Remember moves" to bring up a list of all moves Yanma has ever learned.
- Select Ancient Power: Choose Ancient Power from the list to make it one of Yanma's current moves.
Triggering the Evolution
Once Yanma knows Ancient Power, you need to level it up by just one level. This can be done through battling, using EXP Candies, or using a Rare Candy. As soon as Yanma levels up, it will evolve into Yanmega immediately.
Additional Tips
- Catching Yanma: If you're having trouble catching Yanma, consider using a Net Ball, which has a higher catch rate for Bug-type Pokémon.
- Wild Yanma Levels: Wild Yanma in the Kitakami region are often found at levels ranging from 10 to 60, depending on your progress in the game.
- Alternative Methods: If you cannot find Ancient Power in the "Remember Moves" list, you may need to catch a new Yanma or find another way to obtain the move, as Ancient Power is not a craftable TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
By following these steps, you can successfully evolve Yanma into Yanmega in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's "The Teal Mask" DLC.
