How to Defeat Sheegoth in Metroid Prime Remastered Guide

Defeating Sheegoth in Metroid Prime Remastered is a crucial step in progressing through the game, and it requires a specific strategy to overcome this formidable boss. Located in the Phendrana Drifts' Chapel of the Elders, Sheegoth presents a challenging fight, but with the right approach, players can emerge victorious.

Preparing for the Battle

Before engaging Sheegoth, it is essential to dispatch the Baby Sheegoths that appear upon entering the Chapel of the Elders. Once these smaller enemies are defeated, Sheegoth will emerge, and it is highly recommended to scan it immediately. Scanning Sheegoth will provide a Log Book entry that reveals critical information about its weakness, which is vital for the upcoming battle.

Understanding Sheegoth's Attacks

Sheegoth has two primary attacks that players need to be aware of: a charge attack and an ice breath attack. When Sheegoth charges, it is crucial to dodge this attack to avoid taking damage. However, the ice breath attack is the key to defeating Sheegoth. When it uses its ice breath, Sheegoth will enter a hyperventilation animation, providing a brief window of opportunity to attack.

The Attack Strategy

To defeat Sheegoth, players must exploit its vulnerability during the hyperventilation animation. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Get Close to Sheegoth: Approach Sheegoth's head to prompt it to perform either a charge or an ice breath attack.
  2. Dodge the Charge: If Sheegoth charges, dodge the attack to avoid damage.
  3. Wait for the Ice Breath: When Sheegoth uses its ice breath, it will enter a hyperventilation animation.
  4. Lock-On and Fire Missiles: During this animation, lock-on to Sheegoth and fire Missiles into its mouth. This is the only way to deal damage to Sheegoth.
  5. Repeat the Process: Repeat steps 1-4 several times. Sheegoth will flash red when a Missile hits its mouth, indicating a successful hit. It takes 15 successful hits to defeat Sheegoth.

Managing Resources

During the battle, it is important to manage your Missile supply carefully. If you are running low on Missiles, you can obtain additional ones from crates in the arena. These crates can be destroyed using a fully-charged Charge Beam, but be cautious not to hit Sheegoth with stray shots, as this can make it more powerful.

Additional Tips

  • Avoid Rogue Shots: Be careful not to hit Sheegoth with the Power Beam, as this can make it more powerful.
  • Use the Environment: If you need more Missiles, destroy the crates in the arena using a fully-charged Charge Beam.
  • Stay Patient: The battle against Sheegoth can be lengthy, so patience and careful timing are key to success.

Rewards After Defeating Sheegoth

Upon defeating Sheegoth, players will be rewarded with the Wave Beam. This new beam allows Samus Aran to open purple doors and activate power conduits, granting access to new areas in the game. The Wave Beam is also effective against certain enemies, such as Pulse and Scatter Bombus, and is helpful against Turrets and Sentry Drones.
