Google Pixel 9 Pro may have a bold new look, according to leaked renders
Google is reportedly working on a new flagship smartphone, the Pixel 9 Pro, which could launch later this year with a major design overhaul.
The device is expected to feature a flat 6.5-inch display, a punch-hole selfie camera, and a thicker rear camera shelf with rounded corners.
The leaked renders, which were shared by MySmartPrice and OnLeaks, show a possible glimpse of what the Pixel 9 Pro could look like.
The device seems to have slimmer bezels on all four sides of the screen, which is slightly smaller than the 6.7-inch display of the Pixel 8 Pro.
The back of the phone also appears to have a different camera layout, with three lenses arranged in a vertical row. The camera shelf is said to be 12mm thick, which could indicate a larger battery or more advanced sensors.
One of the highlights of the Pixel 9 Pro’s camera system could be a periscope telephoto lens, which would allow for optical zoom without compromising the phone’s thickness.
The device may also support variable aperture, which would let the user adjust the amount of light entering the camera.
The primary and telephoto lenses are expected to remain the same as the Pixel 8 Pro, which offered a 12.2MP main sensor and a 48MP telephoto sensor.
The Pixel 9 Pro’s design is similar to the rumored Pixel Fold, which is also said to have a flat display and a rounded camera shelf. This could suggest that Google is trying to create a consistent aesthetic for its premium devices, or that the renders are based on the same source.
However, the authenticity of the renders is not confirmed, and the final product may differ from what is shown.
The Pixel 9 Pro’s specifications are still unknown, but it is likely that the device will run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Android 13.
The device may also have some exclusive features, such as the Pixel Neural Core, which powers the Pixel’s AI capabilities, or the Soli radar chip, which enables motion gestures and face unlock.
Google usually launches its Pixel phones in October, so we may have to wait a few more months before we see the official announcement of the Pixel 9 Pro.
