Galaxy S25 Ultra Telephoto, S26 Ultra 200 Megapixel Camera Rumors Sound Too Insane to Be True
Samsung’s upcoming flagship Galaxy S series phones are among the most hotly anticipated phones each year, known for pushing boundaries in mobile photography. According to a recent leak, Samsung has big camera upgrades planned for 2025’s Galaxy S25 Ultra and 2026’s S26 Ultra.
The leak comes from a tipster with a solid track record. While specs can change during development, if proven accurate, these flagship Galaxy phones could take mobile photography to new heights.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra in 2025 may bring the most major camera overhaul. The tipster claims upgrades across all three rear cameras – main, ultrawide, and telephoto. The details remain unknown for the main camera but likely involve improved low-light capture and processing.
More concrete details emerged for the other two cameras. The ultrawide camera will allegedly jump from 12MP to 50MP, enabling crisper detail, better low-light shots through pixel binning, and 8K video recording.
The telephoto camera will get an adjustable focal length, allowing adaptive zoom ranges. This Sony-esque feature could maintain image quality across wider zoom factors, besting Samsung’s current lossless Space Zoom.
The 2026 Galaxy S26 Ultra also promises camera improvements, headlined by a larger 200MP sensor compared to the already staggering 200MP sensor in 2024’s S23 Ultra. At 1/1.10-inch, it should capture more light and data than the S23 Ultra’s 1/1.3-inch sensor. Paired with a high megapixel count, the S26 Ultra could take mobile image quality to new levels, pending real-world performance.
Of course, with two to three years until these phones’ expected launches, plans can still change. But if these upgrades materialize, especially the variable telephoto on the S25 Ultra, Samsung could decisively leapfrog its Android rivals, already topping DXOMARK’s camera rankings.
Rival Apple may still put up a fight with its iPhone 16 in 2024 and iPhone 18 in 2026. But for Android users wanting the best mobile photography around, the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S26 Ultra look extremely promising, even based on rumors alone. We’ll update with more concrete details as the leaks continue coming.
