Everything About Tesla Caraoke Karaoke
Tesla Caraoke is a unique feature that allows Tesla owners to enjoy karaoke directly in their vehicles, enhancing the driving experience with a fun and interactive element. Here’s a detailed look at how it works and what you need to know.
How to Access Caraoke
To access Tesla Caraoke, start by tapping the Music icon at the bottom of your car's screen. If you only see a thin music player with album art, artist info, and controls, you'll need to expand your Music player by dragging it upward to reveal other music sources, including Caraoke. If you don’t see Caraoke, it may not be an active source or your car may not support it. Cars with MCU 2 or higher, which includes models from 2018 onwards, are compatible with this feature.
Which Cars Support Caraoke
Tesla Caraoke requires a vehicle equipped with MCU 2 or higher. To check your vehicle's version, go to Controls > Software and then tap on ‘Additional Vehicle Information’. Look for ‘Infotainment processor’; if it says Intel Atom, then your vehicle is equipped with MCU 2. This feature is available for all Tesla models, including the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y. However, it may not be available in all regions.
Using Caraoke
Caraoke displays song lyrics directly on the screen without interfering with critical driving information. The songs can be played with or without vocals. To mute the vocals, simply tap the microphone icon, and the song will continue to play with the lyrics shown but without vocals.
Karaoke Song List
The songs and lyrics are provided by StingRay, a well-known creator of karaoke apps and games. Tesla Caraoke is completely free to use, and there are no songs to buy or download. The Caraoke screen lists songs by category, and you can also search for specific songs using the global music search feature.
Searching for Songs
While the Caraoke screen categorizes songs, you can search for a specific song by using the global music search. After searching, the results will be broken down by music service, and you should see a karaoke section if there are relevant matches.
Using Caraoke While Driving
Caraoke can be used while driving, but it will cover some areas of your screen, such as the navigation map. However, your next turn will be displayed over your car visualization in the Model 3 and Model Y, ensuring you can still follow directions safely.
Microphone Option
For those who want to sing along with their own voices, Tesla has introduced the CaraokeMic, a dedicated microphone system. This accessory includes two microphones, a receiver, a data cable, a charging cable, and a storage bag. The CaraokeMic is available for $215 and works with media apps on both front and rear touchscreens, featuring "anti-howling" technology to ensure clear sound. The microphones have a battery life of over 10 hours and require the latest firmware release to function. They are compatible with models equipped with Intel Atom or AMD Ryzen processors.
Setting Up the Microphone
To use the CaraokeMic, open the Caraoke or your preferred media app on your vehicle's touchscreen. The microphones pair automatically with the system, and you can turn your cabin into your own private karaoke lounge. This feature is particularly useful for those spending time at charging stations or simply looking for a fun way to enjoy their EV.
Regional Availability
While Tesla Caraoke itself is available on compatible vehicles, the CaraokeMic is now available in North America, having initially been launched in China. The feature's availability can vary by region, so it's important to check if it's supported in your area.
