If you’ve ever searched for a decent smart lock online, you would know that it’s not an easy job. There are several offerings available in the market today, with each packing its own unique characteristic to set it apart from the rest. So we managed to scour the internet in order to find the best smart locks that you can use on your Airbnb property this year.
So without waiting any further, let’s have a look at the list.
Best Smart Lock for Airbnb

1) Schlage Encode
As an Airbnb host, you likely are interested in automating your process as much as possible. And with the Schlage Encode, this is the only smart lock you need. It integrates with the popular Guesty For Hosts automation tool. The coolest part about this integration? You can auto generate a new key access code to the guest’s last four digits of their phone number. How cool is that? Guesty does charge a 75 cent fee per code, but it is worth it.
As for the smart lock itself, Schlage is no stranger to the smart locks industry, it is one of the best smart lock for Airbnb. The company has been around for quite some time now, so it’s only fair that we take a look at one of its most popular products. The Encode comes with a simplistic design, including a durable touchscreen keypad on the front. The keypad is illuminated by an LED backlight, giving you enough visibility even in the dark.
This also comes with anti-pick shield, providing immunity against burglars. You can make this compatible with your Ring home security system, and also home automation systems like Key by Amazon and the Schlage Home App. Once enabled, you will be fully equipped to offer access codes and remotely open and lock the door without even being physically present there. This can be done either via the smartphone app or using a web browser.
This can hold up to 30 user codes at a time, giving you enough freedom to offer a unique code to each user. This product is available in four exciting colors, namely Aged Bronze, Bright Chrome, Satin Chrome, and Satin Nickel. While this lacks the out of the box features that we saw in some of the other smart locks, it’s certainly an offering worth checking out.
Pricing for this product differs based on where you’re getting it. But most users should be able to snatch the best smart lock for Airbnb up for a fair price on Amazon.

2) Yale Assure Lock 2
The Assure Lock 2 is the latest and greatest smart lock released by Yale.
This lock is beautifully design with a sleek looking keypad. A key feature it has is the geofencing, so when you walk up to the door and the lock senses you are close, it will automatically unlock the door.
This second generation Yale Assure Lock now features bluetooth, and Apple Home funtionality built in. You will also be able to connect your smart lock directly to the Wi Fi network without to connect to a bridge first.
In its smartphone app, you can get passwords, manage guest passwords and profiles. Check if the door is open or closed, locked or unlocked, all done remotely.
This is yet another best smart lock for Airbnb bundle which gives customers access to a comprehensive security network as soon as they receive their order.
This is a standard deadbolt lock, which means it will fit into any deadbolt slot you have at your home. You can also quickly check the lock status of your phone through voice assistants like Google Assistant, Alexa or Siri. The Yale Assure Lock 2 is certainly one of the best smart locks available out there.

3) August Smart Lock + Connect Wi-Fi Bridge
Airbnb hosts ideally should go for a smart lock that can do a good job keeping the property safe, and make it easy for its guests to check in simply, quickly and safely, all while automating the process.
If that simplicity speaks to you, then we suggest the August Smart Lock with the Connect Wifi Bridge.
There are two ways for your guest to check in. First way is for your guest to use the August app, or you can install an August Smart Keypad, that will allow the guest to enter the key code. All you need to do is to provide the code in the automated Airbnb instructions, you can trust your guest will be able to quickly get into the unit without trouble.
After check in, you can manage everything over the August app, and even link the August app to your Airbnb account.
The installation is relatively simple, the lock installs over your existing deadbolt and should only take a few minutes.

4) UltraLoq U-Bolt Pro Smart Lock
This offering has all the features that you would expect from a smart lock. It comes with smartphone access as well as traditional keys. Using the app, you can enable temporary access codes for the lock, allowing tenants or repairmen to enter without concerns.
Naturally, since you’re in control of the lock, you can remove access codes anytime you want, so your property is completely safe at all times. A product like this appears to be tailor made for Airbnb property owners who cannot be available at their property at all times. This allows them to conveniently share access codes in lieu of a physical key and ensure it’s an easy process for all.
This is a perfect fit for customers who are seeking a traditional lock with some modern improvements. You will have to download the TTLock app from the Google Play Store to use the aforementioned features, so be sure to keep that in mind when you get the product. There are no color choices on offer here, but given its neutral coloring and design, it should go well with pretty much any door out there.

5) Yale Assure Lock SL
This is the second Yale product on our list, which speaks volumes about the brand’s popularity in the smart locks segment. This smart lock also comes with a traditional keyhole, which is perhaps the main difference between this and the Assure Lock SL. This gives customers extra breathing room with regards to access codes, as there’s a physical key present as well. However, the keys are only an alternative as you can fully automate the process on this lock without ever requiring a physical key.
This product is enabled by an August hub, which gives you access to the August Home app, and a ton of stats and other smart lock related data along with it. This works on proximity as well, which means it will automatically unlock when you walk near it with your phone. This gorgeous product is available in Oil Rubbed Bronze, Satin Nickel, and Polished Brass variants. At the current price, this is certainly not the cheapest smart lock going around.

6) Kwikset Kevo 99250
This is perhaps one of the most deceptive smart locks out there. From the outside, this looks barely any different from an old fashioned deadbolt. However, it’s a smart lock with exciting features on board. This can also work with Amazon Alexa voice commands, although you will require a Kevo Plus hub to make this happen.
This is also required if you want to enable remote locking and unlocking. Naturally, the company also offers an app which lets you create eKeys and share access codes with friends and family. Since there’s no Wi-Fi by default on the Kevo, it uses Bluetooth to establish a connection between the phone and the lock.
If you’re looking to reset the lock to start fresh, all you have to do is press the reset button on the backside for 10 seconds until the light rings start flashing red on the lock. The Kevo runs on four AA batteries, which are included with the packaging.
Considering the size of the device, it’s safe to say that these batteries will last a long time without needing replacements. As is the case with most new smart locks, this one can be installed within a matter of minutes, and only with a screwdriver. You can get this in Satin Nickel, Polished Brass, and Venetian Bronze, giving you enough options to choose from.

7) Delaney Hardware 301779 (Z-Wave)
This popular lock maker also has a new smart lock in store now. Known simply by its model number, this mimics a few of the smart locks we’ve seen in the market today. Luckily, the maker has been kind enough to include a traditional keyhole along with a touchscreen keypad to give you the best of both worlds.
This can accommodate up to 30 user codes of between four to eight digits, thus offering a unique code each time someone visits your Airbnb property. Users will have to be careful, though, as 5 incorrect attempts can lock down the door completely while also locking the touchscreen interface.
This is an ANSI Grade 3 lock with motor-driven deadbolt, offering optimum security for your property. This unit uses Z-Wave Plus, thus offering seamless integration with other Z-Wave products like cameras, smoke sensors, etc.
If you’re concerned about the door being unlocked for too long, it is wise to enable auto-locking, which can be set between 10 to 99 seconds. This offering by Delaney Hardware is available in Tuscany Bronze, Chrome, Matte Black, and Satin Nickel, offering something for every door. The pricing here is on par with high-end offerings.

8) Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 for Euro Profile Cylinder, Smart Door Lock
This is an incredibly exciting product thanks to the array of features it packs. First and foremost, this comes in the form of a traditional door but with smart features enabled. There’s a touchscreen dial available here to input the access codes while you can also choose to access the locks using the company’s app on the Play Store. This allows you to know who has entered and even allow remote access even if you’re not at home.
Users can create unique entry codes for each user both temporary and permanent ones, with the ability to revoke or remove access codes altogether for your convenience. Like most smart locks, this offering runs on battery as well.
This should be used as a last resort as the onboard battery is capable of lasting up to 20,000 hours in the company’s words.
This offering is also slightly expensive compared to some of the smart locks we’ve discussed so far. However, considering the features it comes with, the pricing shouldn’t really matter. The manufacturer offers this smart lock in Black with no other colors available.

9) OAKS LABS Smart Lock
This offering by Oaks Labs might not have made a lot of noise in the market, but one quick look at the product and you’ll be fully convinced of its potential. This offering looks very identical to several smart locks that we’ve seen in the market. In terms of design, you get a touchscreen keypad on the front, along with a keyhole, allowing you to use both the conventional and modern technology on your door. The company offers two normal keys with the lock as well.
There are several modes you can use on this lock to restrict or allow access to people. Using nothing but a mobile app, you can open the door, while it locks the door automatically every time you close it, unless otherwise specified. This smart lock is battery operated, with the onboard battery supposedly lasting up to a year.
If in case the battery runs out before you had the chance to replace them, you can apparently enable functionality using a USB charging cable. This is good information to have beforehand so that you can make on-the-go adjustments to make the door work. But as a precautionary measure, it makes sense to always keep an eye on the battery level via the Oaks Labs app.
Installing this product barely takes a few minutes and only requires a screwdriver. If you’ve replaced a deadbolt lock before, this should be relatively easy. Oaks Labs also offers detailed instructions in the form of videos and documents supplied with the product. This product is significantly cheaper than a smart lock from any other leading manufacturer. Given that it still offers all the features that we expect from high-end offerings, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t check this out.

10) AirLocking
We’ve seen Yale partnering with Nest for a unique smart lock, and this particular listing here is a bundle of a Yale keypad smart lock and a Samsung Smart Things Hub, allowing you to fully automate your home security.
The bundle also comes with a checkout button, allowing you to know when the guest has checked out of your property. This combo will allow you to automatically send your guests the codes as they prepare to check in. We would’ve preferred a touchscreen display, but a mechanical keypad is always recommended for rental properties.
This product uses a standard alkaline battery, and will last quite a long time without needing to replace them. But wait, there’s a catch here. AirLocking is a subscription service that brings together two preconfigured devices.
This means that to access automatic access code sharing and all the other perks we talked about, you will need to subscribe to the company’s monthly subscription. If you list out your property on Airbnb or other platforms regularly, this will definitely complement the entire setup nicely. At the current price, it’s certainly not the cheapest bundle available out there.

11) Sifely Keyless Entry Door Lock
As you would expect, you will get all the smart lock features that you can expect from a product like this, including smartphone access (via Bluetooth) as well as a dedicated app to manage codes and to lock or unlock the door while in proximity. Other features include passcode unlock, Fingerprint unlock, Fob Unlock, Key unlock and Smartphone unlock
If you’re entertaining someone who does not have an app on their device, you can also share temporary codes to contacts via SMS, giving them immediate access to your property even while you’re away. You can get this smart lock in a standard deadbolt or a lever/latch model, so you get to choose which form you want.
This offering is available in three exciting finishes – Silver and Gold with each offering something distinctively different for the customers. In terms of pricing, the company has been mindful not to be exorbitant, so you will find this to be significantly cheaper than other rival offerings.
