Apple’s Health App to Introduce AI-Powered Virtual Health Coach

Apple is reportedly developing an AI-powered virtual health coach as part of a comprehensive overhaul of its Health app, under the initiative known as Project Mulberry. This development aims to transform the Health app into a more proactive and personalized wellness tool.

AI-Powered Health Coaching

The forthcoming AI health coach, tentatively named “Apple Coach,” is designed to analyze data collected from users’ devices, including iPhones and Apple Watches. By examining metrics such as heart rate patterns, sleep cycles, and activity levels, the AI coach will provide personalized recommendations to enhance fitness, nutrition, sleep, and mental well-being. This approach seeks to shift the Health app from a passive data repository to an active participant in users’ health journeys.

Collaboration with Medical Experts

To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the advice offered, Apple is collaborating with medical professionals across various fields, including sleep science, nutrition, physical therapy, cardiology, and mental health. These experts are contributing to the training of the AI system and creating educational video content covering a range of wellness topics. This collaboration underscores Apple’s commitment to integrating professional medical insights into its health offerings.

New Features and Subscription Model

In addition to personalized coaching, the revamped Health app is expected to introduce features such as food tracking capabilities, allowing users to log their meals and receive nutritional insights. This positions Apple in direct competition with existing health platforms like MyFitnessPal and Noom. Furthermore, there are indications that Apple may rebrand the Health app as “Health+,” suggesting the introduction of a subscription model to access premium features. This aligns with Apple’s broader strategy of expanding its services and subscription offerings.

Anticipated Release Timeline

The AI-powered health coach and the revamped Health app are expected to debut with the release of iOS 19.4, projected for spring or summer 2026. A preview of these features may be showcased at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2025. This timeline allows Apple to refine the AI technology and ensure its reliability before public release.

This initiative reflects Apple’s ongoing commitment to integrating advanced technology with health and wellness, potentially setting a new standard for digital health solutions.
