Amazon Debuts An AI Assistant For Sellers Project Amelia

Amazon Debuts Project Amelia, an AI Assistant for Sellers

Amazon has launched a new generative AI-based selling assistant, codenamed Project Amelia, designed to enhance productivity and drive growth for its sellers. This innovative tool is built using Amazon Bedrock, a managed service that provides scalable access to the latest foundation models and AI tools, enabling efficient scaling and development of generative AI applications.

Key Features of Project Amelia

Knowledge-Based Questions: Sellers can ask specific questions and receive relevant, summarized information from reliable sources on Seller Central and beyond. For example, asking about holiday season preparation will yield personalized best practices tailored to the seller's unique business.

Status Updates and Metrics: Sellers can quickly access sales data, customer traffic information, and other critical business metrics. Asking "How is my business doing?" will provide a summary of recent sales, units sold, and website traffic, with the ability to drill down into specific products.

Actions and Issue Resolution: Project Amelia will soon offer straightforward resolution paths to complex issues and tasks by diagnosing problems and, in some cases, taking action on behalf of sellers. For instance, it can investigate discrepancies in inventory reports and connect sellers with support if needed.

Benefits

Personalized Insights: Project Amelia learns each seller's unique business to offer personalized advice and support. This personalized approach ensures that the guidance provided is relevant and actionable for each seller.

Efficiency: Available from any page within Seller Central at any time, Project Amelia provides immediate answers and guidance, reducing the time and effort required for sellers to manage their business.

Scalability: Built using Amazon Bedrock, Project Amelia leverages the latest AI tools for efficient scaling, making it a robust solution for sellers as their businesses grow.

Availability

Project Amelia is currently in beta for an initial set of U.S. sellers and will roll out to additional U.S. sellers in the coming weeks. Later this year, it will begin a phased rollout in other countries and languages, expanding its reach globally.

Functionality and Future Enhancements

At launch, sellers can retrieve information like sales data and customer traffic information and ask questions such as "How is my business doing?" to get a summary of metrics, including recent sales, units sold, and website traffic, compared to the same time last year. Sellers can also ask follow-up questions focused on specific products.

In the future, Project Amelia will be able to help resolve issues and aid with other tasks. For example, sellers can ask about discrepancies in inventory reports, and the AI will guide them through the proper remediation channels, including connecting them with support. Over time, Project Amelia will gain the ability to not only converse with sellers but also anticipate their needs, take actions, and resolve issues on their behalf.

Development and Integration

Project Amelia was developed using a combination of broad world knowledge and deep expertise in selling on Amazon, giving it the unique ability to provide sellers with relevant, tailored responses designed to drive success in Amazon's store. The AI assistant is integrated into Seller Central, a web-based dashboard that independent merchants use to manage their business stores, making it easily accessible from any page within the platform.

By leveraging the transformative power of generative AI, Amazon aims to improve how sellers manage and grow their businesses, reducing the time, effort, and resources required and allowing sellers to focus more on building great products and delighting customers.
