Note 4 Can’t Receive Text Messages

Problem: I’m having problems receiving text messages. I can send them I just can’t receive them for some odd reason. I can receive calls and make calls I just didn’t know if maybe something is causing it to block messages coming in.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do is to verify if the phone is not receiving text messages from all recipients or from selected recipients. To do this you can try sending yourself a text message. Once this is done check if you are able to receive your text message. If you are receiving the text message then you must check if you the spam filter feature of the phone enabled.

  • Open the “Messages” app.
  • Tap “Menu”.
  • Choose “Settings”
  • Make sure that the “Spam filter” box is unchecked.

Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing each step check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should proceed to the next step.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.
  • Check if the issue occurs when your phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be a network related issue. Contact your carrier regarding this matter.

Note 4 Can’t Send Or Receive Text Messages After Software Update

Problem: After downloading this software update, I am unable to send or receive texts.  The blue circle signifying that it’s processing is endless.

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to turn off the phone then remove the battery and microSD card ( if you have one installed). Next, press the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM. Reinsert the battery then turn on your phone. Make sure that the phone is getting a good network signal before sending yourself a text message. This way you can check the sending and receiving status of the text message. If the problem still persists then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Immediately check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it still does.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.
  • Start your phone in Safe Mode mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to contact your carrier regarding this matter. Once your carrier has determined that the problem is not caused by the network, an issue  with your account, or the SIM card then you should consider manually  flashing the updated firmware file to your phone using Odin. You can get the firmware file from the Sammobile website which should also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.

Note 4 Not Detecting SIM Card

Problem: Hi I have a smashing galaxy note 4 unlocked at&t. I got it second hand from a guy who bought it from America (I’m in uk) I have a 3 sim but half the time my phone doesn’t detect it when I put it in. It also doesn’t receive sms or phone calls. You can’t phone ppl send sms or use mobile data. It would be a huge help if u got a solution. Thx

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to isolate the SIM card as this might be causing the problem. You should insert another SIM card in your phone then check if the same issue occurs. You can also insert the SIM card in another phone then check if the same issue occurs.

Once you have determined that the SIM card is not causing the problem it’s time to troubleshoot the phone. Since this is a second hand phone then I recommend doing a factory reset. If you have any data stored in the phone I suggest that you backup this data before doing a reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if the same issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have the unlock status of the device checked again.

Note 4 Enter SIM Card No IMEI

Problem: I just finished flashing a rom on my Samsung Note 4 sm-n910c and no matter the rom I flash it manages to flash sucessfully but there is always one problem which is the sim card it always says enter sim card although it’s already in and there is no imei nothing, i have another rom backed up on my phone where it reads the sim but its so buggy can you guys help me please.

Solution: You should try flashing the stock firmware file of your phone then check if the same issue still occurs. In case the phone still does not have any IMEI information after this then the EFS folder of your phone might be corrupted. This folder contains important information regarding the device and one of this is the IMEI. Flashing an updated firmware file on your phone should fix this problem. If it doesn’t then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Not Sending Or Receiving Text Messages After Changing Networks

Problem: I transferred my phone to Page Plus today from Straight talk. I am using a Samsung Note 4. Before transferring this phone I factory reset my phone. Now I can not send or receive any text messages at all. I have tried texting multiple people, taking the battery out of the phone, taking the sim card out. And nothing has worked. This phone has worked on page plus before with messaging but now it isn’t.

Solution: The first thing that you should do for this particular problem is to check if your phone has a good network signal. If the phone does not have any signal then you won’t be able to send or receive any text messages. It’s best to restart your phone so that it will be able to reestablish its connection to the network towers.

The next thing you should do is to make sure that you have an active text message subscription. You can contact your carrier regarding this matter.

In case the problem is not caused by the network or your subscription then it is now time to check the phone by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Remove the SIM card from your phone then either insert another SIM into your phone then check if the issue still occurs or insert your SIM card in another phone then check if the issue still occurs. This way you can check if the issue is caused by the SIM card.
  • Clear the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if you are able to send or receive text messages when in this mode. If you are able to then the problem could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Can’t Hear Calls With Internal Speaker

Problem: suddenly when i made call or receiving call I am unable to hear with internal speaker I have to to put in speaker mode so I can hear or with ear phone. I replaced the internal speaker and no luck , please could you figure out the issue

Solution: Try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete make a call then check if you can now use the internal speaker. If there is still no sound then this is most likely caused by a faulty internal component. You need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
