S7 Edge Gets Hot Battery Drains Fast

Problem: Battery only lasts few hours on a good day. Phone will auto restart on a loop until battery dies. Keyboard won’t pop up to type sometimes. Phone also gets really hot. I’ve had this phone for almost 2 months. I’m assuming it’s refurbished as my old edge was stolen and I used the insurance and was given this piece of junk. I’m traveling abroad so no verizon stores to go to. No sd card is inserted. I’ve ran a virus scan with VZ protect and it doesn’t show any malware.

Solution: What you will want to do right now is to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing the problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if an app you recently installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is started in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Do you experience any of the issues when the phone is running in this mode? If not then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work.

S7 Edge Takes Too Long To Charge

Problem: Phone have charging issues it takes 5hrs to charge . I have tried multiple chargers. As well as the original charger. There is no debit in my port and the phone has never had any water damage

Solution: Taking 5 hours to fully charge the phone is not quite normal as the phone can fully charge in less than 2 hours using the Adaptive Fast Charging charger. There are various factors that can cause this particular problem which should be checked by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Sometimes dirt or debris stuck in the charging port can cause the phone to charge slowly. Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air then check if the issue still occurs.
  • A faulty charging cord can cause the phone to charge slowly. Replace this cord with a new one then check if the issue still occurs.
  • If the output of the wall charger is not within the range of 2.0A then the phone will charge slowly. Try using a different charger ( one with an output rating of 2.0A) then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Sometimes, rogue apps that constantly run in the background will affect the charging time of the phone. Try removing the microSD card of the phone ( if one is installed) then start the phone in Safe Mode. If the phone charges faster in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might be caused by a faulty battery. You should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Constantly Connects Disconnects When Connected To Laptop

Problem: when i connect my s7 edge to my laptop it constantly connects and disconnects and i can’t do what i’m trying to do ?? laptop operating system is windows 10

Solution: Does this issue also occur when you connect the phone to its charger? If it doesn’t then what you will want to do first is to make sure that all the necessary drivers are installed in your computer. You should install  Smart Switch in your laptop and let this software take care of the necessary drivers.

Once you have made sure that it is not the lack of drivers that is causing the problem then you need to try using a different USB cord when connecting the phone to the laptop. You should also try connecting it to a different USB port.

In case the issue still persists what you should do right now is to pinpoint if the problem is caused by the phone or your laptop. To do this just connect your phone to another computer. If the issue does not occur when your phone is connected to another computer then the problem is caused by your laptop. You will then need to determine what this is.

If the issue still occurs even when the phone is connected to a different computer then the problem is most likely caused by the phone. You should try restarting your phone then clean its charging port using a can of compressed air. Once this is done check if the problem still occurs.

S7 Edge Requested For Password After Restart

Problem: Hey, I restarted my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, and once it restarted it requested a password. I don’t know what the password is, and cant get into my phone. I hadn’t previously linked my google account and backed up my photos. And i was unaware of the samsung account system. I have hundreds of photos of my almost 2 year old son on my phone that i can’t stand the thought of losing. I don’t know what version my android is, or how to find out, Is there a way around my problem?

Solution:  Once you restart your phone it will require you to input the password. If you are unaware of any password that you have set on this phone then there are two ways to gain access to your device which we have listed below.

First Method: If you have a Samsung account setup

  • Log on to Samsung’s Find My Mobile service.
  • Access your account
  • Find the ‘Unlock my screen’ on left sidebar.
  • Click “Unlock” to get past the lock screen.
  • You’ll then receive a prompt telling you your phone’s screen is already unlocked.
  • Now set your new password.

Seconds Method: Using Android Device Manager

  • Log on to Google’s Android Device Manager service using  your computer.
  • You will see a list of Android devices. Select the one you want to unlock.
  • In the ADM interface, select “Lock.”
  • In the next screen, enter a temporary password and click Lock again.
  • If successful, you should see buttons Ring, Lock and Erase.
  • Moving to your phone you will be prompted to enter the temporary password you just created. If entered correctly, you can unlock your device.

S7 Edge Screen Becomes Black

Problem: My phone started yesterday while just sitting on the counter, after I picked up to use it there were soft sort of pink lines across the top of the screen. After a while the lines seem to go further down the phone. I turned the brightness of the screen up and it seemed to disappear. But soon realized that the brightness of the phone is probably too much. I could still see the screen to use the phone. Today was listening to Pandora realized the phone was nearly black. Black enough where I can’t do anything with it. Please help me.

Solution: Try simulating a battery pull by pressing and holding the power and volume down button of the phone for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue still remains then you should do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If after the reset the issue persists you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty display.
