Note 5 Not Connecting To Network Unless Phone Is Awake

Problem: So very recently my device has decided that it will not allow any internet based chat apps (Facebook messenger/chat heads, Hangouts, etc) to connect to the network unless the phone is awake and I’m currently using that app. I’m not sure how to fix it, messenger displays a waiting for Network message before loading any messages. This happens in both WiFi and 4G, I’ve attempted resets, reinstalls, trying to avoid a factory reset. Thanks!

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to make sure that the Wi-Fi on during sleep setting is enabled. To do this follow the steps listed below.

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen
  • Tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon
  • Tap More
  • Tap Keep Wi-Fi On During Sleep
  • Tap your desired sleep policy which should be Always

If the phone already has the correct setting and you are still having the same problem then try to check if this issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs in Safe Mode then you need to perform the following steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Not Making Calls When Data Is Off

Problem: After updating my note 5 last night my phone will no longer make or receive calls while my data is off. Just woke during if anyone else is having this issue? Restarting my phone hasn’t helped so any help is appreciated.

Solution: There might be some network coverage issue in your area prompting the calls to be made on a data connection ( LTE ). Try checking if this same issue occurs in other areas to verify if this is the case. You should also check if another phone on the same network has the same issue that you are experiencing right now.

If the network connection is not causing the problem then it’s time to check the phone. The first thing that you need to do since this problem occured right after a software update is to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This erases the temporary system data of the phone which could be causing the problem. Once this is done restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely caused by some old software data that got left behind during the update. You will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset to fix this problem.

Note 5 Can’t Connect To Non-Internet Wi-Fi Network

Problem: Greetings, I have a Galaxy Note 5 with CREDO mobile (Sprint).  Since updating to Nougat, I am unable to connect to a non-internet wifi network.  I work in Theater.  We use closed wifi networks to remotely control Lighting and Sound boards.  These wifi networks do not have access to the internet.  As such, my Note 5 will not connect to any of the WiFi networks I mentioned above.  It will attempt to connect, then show a message: “No internet connection” and drop the connection.   I have placed my device in developer mode, adjusted WiFi and network auto-reconnect settings.  I also reset the cache partition on my phone.  When these did not work, I did a factory reset.  Same issue remains. Please feel free to schedule a time for a phone call, at your convenience, or reply to my email. Also, let me know of any further info you may need. Best regards

Solution: You should try going to the Wi-Fi settings of your phone then turn off the Smart network switch. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try to simulate the problem with another Wi-Fi network. Make sure that this other network is not connected to the Internet. This allows you to verify if the issue is phone related or router related. If your phone still can’t connect to this other Wi-Fi network then this could be caused by a software bug. We will have to elevate this to Samsung and Google to have this issue resolved.

Note 5 No Network Connection

Problem: 1. No network connection , unable to make phone calls over mobile and data for internet connection Hi – pitched sound when playing movies on YouTube. 3. Changed my sim to new one to ruled out service provider issues My sim works well in other mobile phones Already clear cache memory, reboot system now, and done master reset .No solution yet. I am tired of Samsung mobile now

Solution: For the issue regarding the phone not having any network connection you need to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Turn off your phone then take out the SIM card. Wait for a minute then reinsert the SIM card then turn on the phone.
  • Check if you are getting a network signal. If no signal is present then try to move to a different area. Still not getting any signal? It’s time to contact your service provider and inquire if there is a network issue and if there are no issues you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
  • Make sure that your account is active.
  • Make sure that your phone has the correct APN settings.
  • If the above steps don’t work then backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Should the issue still persist at this point then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Calls Are Dropping After Software Update

Problem: Hi I am having issues with my note 5 since I did an update on my device my calls are dropping on me, I got a hold of my carrier they told me that it was a bad update and has bugs, how can you take care of this problem for me, I’ve never had a problem.

Solution: If this issue is caused by the software update then the culprit is most likely some form of old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. The best way to proceed in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Check Network Connection Error

Problem: Ever since the marshmallow update my galaxy note 5 has had trouble connecting to network i get a message in the middle of the screen saying check network connection and some of my apps won’t work anything i can do to fix it thanks in advance

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to check if the issue is caused by the network. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network and test your mobile data connection as well to check if it’s your current connection that is causing the problem.

If the connection isn’t causing the issue then this is most likely caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this problem. What you need to do right now is to try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. If this fails to fix the problem then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Loading Pages Very Slow

Problem: My galaxy note 5 is loading pages and video extremely slow, It’s not my data plan because I have unlimited data, It’s not my memory because of out of 32 gigs I have 8 gigabytes of memory free and I don’t not know what to do to increase it back to its regular speed

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to check if the network is causing the problem. Download the speedtest app from the Google Play Store then run a test on your network speed. If the result is acceptable then the problem could be on the phone side. Perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
