S6 Sends Text Messages On Its Own

Problem: So I have had my galaxy s6 for almost 2 years now and recently it has started sending messages to people in my contacts that I never sent. These messages also don’t appear on my phone but they do appear on the recipient’s device. It happened this morning to two different people at the exact same time just different text styles that I never sent. I’m kinda freaked out and would appreciate the help!

Solution: Normally, a phone should not be sending out text messages on its own. The only time this will happen is if your phone has some malware in it or a third party app installed in the device is sending out the text messages. What you should do first in this case is to check if an app is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is running in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while downloaded apps are prevented from running. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then it’s likely that some malware is causing this problem. If this is the case then you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Can’t Receive Text Messages

Problem: I cant receive text message i can only send message. I already try to reset it several times and it doesn’t work.

Solution: Try sending composing a text message and send it to yourself. If you are not getting the text message then try to check if any number is placed in the spam list. To check if this is the case you should open the messages app, then tap on “More” in the top right corner and select Settings. Go into Spam filter then tap on manage spam numbers. If you see any numbers in the list then you should try removing them.

Another possible reason why you are not getting the messages is because of a third party app installed in your phone. To verify if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. If you can receive text messages in this mode then the problem is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Should the issue persist then one last troubleshooting step that you should consider doing is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should contact your carrier regarding this matter.

S6 Text Sending Failed Error

Problem: So, my phone is constantly saying “sending failed” With almost every text I send. But the thing is, the messages aren’t failing to send! They’re still sending! And sometimes people are getting multiples of the same message. I keep getting 2 or 3 of the same message from the ones sent to me too. I have a Samsung Galaxy s6

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this particular issue is to clear the cache and data of the stock messaging app as the issue could be caused by some corrupt data in the app itself. Once you have performed this step restart your phone. If the issue still occurs then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if an app you installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should contact your carrier regarding this issue as it could already be a network related problem.

S6 Not Getting Notifications For Text Messages

Problem: I have a Galaxy S6 active. As of recently my phone has stopped providing sounds or screen notifications for my text messages. I have tried changing the ringtone, turning it on and off, as well as turning my phone off. Short of resetting my phone completely and having to set everything up again is there anything else I can try?

Solution: The first thing you need to do in this particular case is to check the notification settings of the phone. To do this go to Settings then tap on the Sound and Notifications section. Scroll to the App notifications section then look for the messages app. Make sure that the block notification switch is turned off then make sure that the set as priority switch is turned on.

If the settings are correct and you are still not getting notified of your text messages then you should try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Voice To Text Message Is Duplicated

Problem: when using voice to text for both email and text messages, the message is duplicated with multiple phrases that are close to what I want which forces me to continually delete multiple phrases.  This happens for all the words that I speak.  It just happened with the newest sw update. Can I go back to the previous update?

Solution: This seems to be a common issue among several devices lately. One fix that seems to work is to uninstall the update of the Google app.

  • Open the Google Play Store
  • Select “My applications and games” from the side menu
  • Find the option “Installed”, select “Google”
  • Tap on the menu button located in the top right corner next to the search button, uncheck “Auto-update” box
  • Delete updates Google app using “Delete update”

While this is just a temporary fix you should also try doing a factory reset on your phone if the issue still occurs. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S6 Text Notification Not Working If Messages App Is Open

Problem: They just did a phone update. Now when i have messages open and someone message opened up, it won’t notify me when a new text come through. I got it to vibrate but no sounds. But when messages is closed it works fine. I know it was the update that messed up my messaging. If I can’t fix it in any settings how do i delete the phone update? Thanks.

Solution: Unfortunately this is a feature change brought by the update and can’t be changed through the phone settings. If you don’t want this new feature then you will have to rollback your phone software to the previous version which I don’t recommend. To rollback the software of your phone you will have to manually flash the previous firmware version of your device. You can get the previous firmware version from the Sammobile website. This site also has instructions on how to flash your phone.
