Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Continuous Restart Loop Issue & Other Related Problems

Note 4 Continuous Restart Loop

Problem: Hello, I’m looking for some advice on what I can do to fix my Samsung Galaxy note 4. My battery ran out. I started charging and it charged like normal. But when I pressed the power button to turn on, it vibrates, the black ‘Samsung Note 4’ screen appears, it blanks out, vibrates and repeats continuously – so basically it’s on a continuous restart loop. I’ve tried, the usual tricks: 1. holding onto the power button then restarting 2. taking the SD card out 3. going into recovery mode, wiping cache etc 4. Replacing the battery with a new battery (when I bought my phone, it came with a spare one) …none of which seem to work. The phone was working absolutely fine, so I’m not sure why this happened. Any advice much appreciated Thanks

Solution: When a phone gets stuck in a continuous restart loop the problem is usually caused by some software glitch. There are however instances when an issue with some component inside the phone is causing the problem.

Let’s start the troubleshooting by checking if the issue is power related. Connect your phone to its wall charger then turn on the device. If your phone turns on successfully then the problem could be caused by a faulty battery. Try getting a new battery then see if this works.

Another factor you should look into is if the problem is caused by a software glitch. To check if this is the case you have to start your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the reset fails to fix the problem then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which also provides the instructions on how to properly flash your phone.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then it’s possible that this is already caused by an internal component that is failing to work. If this is the case then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Started Boot Looping

Problem: Hi, my Note 4 recently started boot looping. It’s completely stock from T-mobile. I’ve had it since April 2015. After some research on your site and around the internet i’ve tried to narrow it down. The first thing I looked at was the battery, I keep 3 Anker batteries with me all the time, I did receive them at the same time and have tried to cycle through them evenly so i’m not sure if that could be an issue. I haven’t installed any recent apps, the only thing I think that I can think of that makes my situation unique is that, the longer the phone is off, the longer into the boot process the phone goes, even starting up and going into some applications. But once it reboots from that point it doesn’t get very far. So as an example the phone was off for about 12 noon, about 10 hours later i was able to get into my files and was able to transfer around 20 files to my SD Card before it restarted. So maybe about 6-7 minutes, then it rebooted and doesn’t get passed the samsung logo before freezing and restarting again. Could this be a hardware problem?

Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? If this card has some corrupt sectors then it can cause this particular problem. Try removing the microSD card then check if the issue still occurs.

Another thing you should look into is if a downloaded app is causing this problem. To check if this is the case you have to start your phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you proceed with a factory reset. Mek sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Now, if the reset fails to fix the problem then the next step is to check the battery. Connect the phone to its charger. Does the problem occur when the phone is connected to its charger? If not then you should consider getting a new battery.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Stuck In Odin Mode

Problem: My phone says: Could not do normal boot. ddi: mac_read failed ODIN MODE (High SPEED) Product name: samsung official System status: Custom Reactivate locks: off Knox Warranty void: 0X0 Qualcomm secureboot: Enable (CSB) Ao SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P1 secure download: enable UDC start THEN DOWNLOADING… DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!! Is it worth fixing it? or should I get a new phone in this case?

Solution: When a phone gets stuck in Odin mode the problem is usually caused by something that has gone wrong during the rooting or flashing process. If you have not rooted or flashed your phone then it could be caused by a corrupt phone software. Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to perform to fix this problem.

• Turn off your phone then remove the battery and microSD card ( if you have one installed). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on the phone.
• Try starting your phone in recovery mode. If you are able to start your phone this way then you have to perform a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
• Consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware file.

Note 4 Turns Off On Its Own Not Turning On Unless Connected To Charger

Problem: Hello I have a note 4 and recently it has been cutting off on its own and won’t come back on unless I hook it to the charger and my battery will be at 100% . I’ll open a app or just try to take a picture and it will cut off by itself. Sometimes I’ll just take it off the charger and it will cut off automatically. What is causing this? Please help?

Solution: The first thing you should do in this case is to replace your battery with a new one as it looks like this could be a battery related problem. In case the issue still occurs even after replacing the battery then it’s possible that this could be caused by a software glitch. Try starting the phone in Safe Mode to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should proceed by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the issue still occurs even after doing a factory reset then this could already be caused by an internal component of the phone that is failing to work. You should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 4 Not Starting After Installing Custom ROM

Problem: Note 4 doesn’t start after trying to install a n7 rom. I tried to reinstall note 7 rom by deleting everything except internal and external sd card, from twrp wipe option. Now the phone doesn’t even boot.

Solution: It looks like you might have installed a corrupt firmware file or an error has occurred during the flashing of the phone software. You should try flashing the updated stock firmware file to your device. Get this file from the Sammobile website and follow the instructions provided in the website to flash your device.

Note 4 Keeps On Vibrating When Charging

Problem: Charging phone When i try to plug in the charger the phone keeps vibrating but doesnt charge? Do i need new battery or new phone?

Solution: For this issue ty cleaning the charging port of the phone first making sure to remove any dust or dirt that could be present in the port. You should also try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If the issue still persists then you have try using a different battery. If this still does not work then it’s very likely that the problem is caused by a faulty charging port. If this is the case then I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
